We need to trade for some WRs

So just give up on the season instead of giving up a 6/7th pick for a proven vet?

We are 7-0. How is going with what got us here giving up the season.

Cam has to hit Ginn in the hands for him to drop it. I like to think he will catch enough for us to win. It's a wash really in my mind. Spend draft picks and the QB and new receiver aren't on the same page is worse than drops. Wouldn't make a big difference this season anyway.

Because we will not go deep in the playoffs with this core.  It's just not happening.  It's a small chance at the minimum.   A 6th/7th is worth it, even if it doesn't pan out, you have to take the chance on someone like Boldin.

Boldin is slow.  Ted Ginn may drop the ball but he has to get open in first place.  That same play Ginn dropped it on, Boldin wouldn't have gotten there.

You sound like a talking head the week KB went down. Win next week and we have a solid grasp on home field in the playoffs. Win 2 more and you are in the Super Bowl. It won't be receivers that make the difference. It will be Cam running and the defense.

I hope you are right, I do, but just watch.  Good teams exploit the other's weakness.   We usually get outcoached by good coaches anyway, but it won't even take a good one to realize we have unreliable receivers.   They'll stack the box to stop Stewart and spy Cam and dare us to pass (while also taking Olsen out).   Not to mention with the possible injuries the line, Olsen may be blocking way more now and not even on the field, making it easier to shut down our WRs.

Did anyone say you trade for Boldin because he's fast?  Nope.  Did anyone say Boldin would have been in that situation?  No.  In fact, the reason you trade for Boldin is to compliment Ginn/Browns' speed.  Boldin can make the tough catch in the middle and in the end-zone and fight for yards.  It's funny, last year we had no speed, and this year we don't have a reliable big body/tough guy.  That is why we could use someone like Boldin.  Not because he's a speedster, but because he's proven and the defense cannot overlook him.

someone like Boldin, but you dont trade for an injured player.... of course unless you are a message board pretend GM whos job isnt on the line. Our best bet would be to have gotten James Jones, but it was funny how many people on this very board were against it because they thought he sucked although he had 73 receptions last year in Oakland.

Alshon is a proven commodity.....he's a big target, he's got good speed, he's got good hands, and he's still in his prime.  We gave up a 3rd for Olsen and he has been well worth it.  I'd gladly give up a 3rd if we signed Alshon to an extension before the trade.   It won't happen but it's my pipe dream.

This yahoo article mentioned Garcon.  He'd definitely be at least a level up from Ginn.   We need someone who's actually a receiver.  Take advantage of the times.  Who knows when we'll have another opportunity.  NFL is too unpredictable.

Pierre Garcon to Panthers

What, you want Calvin Johnson? Not happening. The Panthers are in a slightly better salary-cap situation now than in years past, and they need to find some kind of help for Cam Newton, who can’t do everything by himself. Meanwhile, Garcon is being ignored in Washington and could at least add a dose of speed to the Panthers instead of idling on the bench. Devin Funchess is not helping this season. A top three of Philly Brown, Ted Ginn and Garcon still might be suboptimal but at least would give some field-stretching potential to open things up for Greg Olsen and Jonathan Stewart in the intermediate and short game. If Garcon would redo his deal (he has a year left at $10 million), the Panthers might bite.

Do you guys watch MIami games?

Rishard Matthews is pretty damn good.

mia.png?w=110&h=110&transparent=trueMiami Dolphins: Rishard Matthews. Although I fully expect the Dolphins (3-4) to keep the team together now that they are competitive, Matthews is a talented receiver and former seventh-round pick who could help a lot of teams. Matthews, who leads the team with 500 receiving yards, is an unrestricted free agent after this season and will seek a bigger payday in 2016. The Dolphins may be able to "sell high," especially since they already have a lot invested at wide receiver by drafting first-round pick DeVante Parker and trading forKenny Stills in the offseason. -- James Walker
