Graham Gano on pace for a record year

I hadn't really been following Graham Gano's stats too closely, but wow, he's racking up the points:

It’s one play, one kick at a time.

So it wasn’t until Tuesday morning that he learned he’s second in the league in points scored with 110. And it wasn’t until Tuesday afternoon that he found out that he’s on pace for a top-10 season all-time in points scored in one season.

“That’d be really crazy,” Gano said. “I’m not looking ahead. That’d be pretty cool. I’m not going to look ahead at the stats but that’d be a really neat accomplishment.”

With an offense scoring 30.2 points per game – the third-most in the league – and a second-ranked defense that’s getting the team in good field position, Gano has had more opportunities this season to get more points.

With 110 points this season, Gano trails New England kicker Stephen Gostkowski by one point with five games remaining. Gano’s previous season-high is 121, and he’s projected to finish the year with 160.

With Gostkowski on pace for 161, Gano’s 160 would put him in a tie with former St. Louis running back Marshall Faulk for 10th-most points scored in a single season.

Where are the fans who have been calling for his job over the past 3 seasons? When this team was a wreck the first half of last year a lot of regulars on this board were wanting him canned immediately upon missing a FG attempt.

C'mon, step up and admit you were not Gano fans (and maybe still aren't) and are just afraid to admit it because they're winning.

There was a fire Gano thread earlier this season - after he missed an extra point or FG (I forget which) against Green Bay.

Mind you this was AFTER he scored the game winning two FGs against Indianapolis the previous week.... LOL!

I just checked, we ARE Worst in the NFL currently in numbers of blocked field goals - 3 blocked.

But the Panthers are also 2nd in FGs made...... and find me the distances of the FG attempts that were blocked- that is a major contributing factor when you start looking at trajectory.

Oh, no argument from me.  I'm a fan of Gano, so I'm not criticizing him by pointing out that stat.  Just wanting to give a rounded out picture of his performance this season.  The blocks are not necessarily his fault.

For 2015 so far:

He's made 100% of FGs from < 40.

He's 10 / 13 at 40-49 yards

He's 2 /4 at 50+ yards.

      No one. Why do you think that is? Because they love Bryce Young's media presence, or because they realize the TEAM is an absolute shiite show that very few QBs could have success in? Knowing what you know about Tepper, which do you think is the reason? Don't try to overthink it. It's the obvious answer. These receivers aren't good - yet. Did you watch last night's game? How do you think our receivers stack up to GB and WAS receivers? Hot take... Renfrow should have caught the pass he took a shot on. Sanders caught the exact same pass running the exact same route with the exact same hit later in the game. There was another pass down the sideline that Renfrow should have caught and got his feet inbounds. The pass that was thrown short was a bad throw by Bryce. He flat out missed that throw. No argument there - and a great play call/design by Canales. But a better receiver either catches the ball or draws a PI with the defender's back towards the ball. The defender never saw the ball. He 100% played the receiver. Bryce isn't exactly killing it, but his receivers aren't doing him any favors either. Their job is to make QBs right, not the other way around. Any Joe SHOULD be able to go out there and catch perfect passes in perfect calls where they're wide open. That doesn't make you an NFL wide receiver.

      You all over the map.   First you scoff at seam routes being hospital balls…despite the fact those are always routes QB have to be worried about throwing their WR into a hit.  now you are countering with the “you act like Renfrow is on IR” defense  and the “but how did he keep playing after that” defense lol it’s a hospital.  Simple.  You even got NFL QBs explaining it to you in real time with the all22 and telling exactly where Bryce need to put the ball and when.
