38 page thread on the Giants forum - Who would you rather have? Cam or Eli?

Just watched his live presser.  When he stepped down from the podium and other people came into the picture, it just strikes you how actually fuging big this guy is.  it's like, "oh yes young gladiator, let me step out of your way, i am but a feeble peasant wandering the streets, go get them."

Quote from the OP in that thread. That's extremely hard to read, it's like he's trying to meet a word requirement and just tossing in random "also" and "either"s.

And considering how bad Eli's been the past several seasons, how bad would Cam have to be for them to (if they were normal, actually watched football) them to speak with such haughtiness?

I honestly can't think of a single thing Eli does better.  Didn't he just have a 27 INT season like a year or two ago?  Not to mention for such a great QB he's missed the playoffs extremely often

Yeah, they're actually very similar QB's, if you just look at the throwing component.

What Cam appears to do better is, not throw as many picks, and throw better under pressure (not that any QB likes pressure). Eli's a mess, throwing under pressure.

Of course when you throw in the run component, it's a slam dunk Cam wise.

But you gotta give Eli props for his two Superbowl years. That's an incredible feat, albeit Eli has had some awful years recently.

Hopefully, Cam can get one this year?

Even if you took away the Run component, you can make an argument Cam is/has been a better QB than Eli.

Note: I'm including Eli at his best, and Eli at his worst (for the past several seasons, except this year). Why are we always so quick to default to the run component when comparing Cam?

However/of course, those who would take Eli will do so because of his two Superbowl's titles, and rightfully so.

My response was based on a few people saying Eli could not run our offense, which is obvious. But what else is also obvious is that we wouldn't run this offense. Needless to say, I personally view Cam as a top 2 or 3 QB and Eli as a fringe top 10 and I certainly wasn't even suggesting I would take Eli over Cam... even if they were the same age.

I wasn't saying you wouldn't take Cam over Eli.

I'm just saying Eli (especially now) is not a better pure thrower than Cam. It's debatable (overall), and Hell No right now! LOL

But I get the sense, a lot of Panther fans always get queasy when comparing Cam to other "top" QB's, cause they don't really watch them, and default that their the better pure passers, then talk about Cam's running.

Truth be told: Eli is a similar passer to Cam in many ways. Always has been. So I find it hilarious that many Giant fans would be so dismissive in certain areas. I guess they don't know? LOL

Of course, Cam this year has been more consistent, and played at a higher level than Eli for any full season.

Both Eli and Cam, were streaky in the past, until Cam this year.

While Eli could never be as dynamic behind center as Cam, he is a SB winning QB and would've likely been able to lead the Panthers to the playoffs this year.

Cam has raised the level of play of those around him here in Carolina and I have no doubt he would do the same thing for the Giants.  NY would have won their division this year with Newton behind center.

Winner:  Cam Newton

some of the posts on there are completely delusional.

I am a proud Cam nut hugger, therefore I could possibly be delusional as well. all of this is just my opinion, but my eyes tell me that Cam is the ultimate equalizer. he thrives on pressure, helps get the absolute most out of the players around him, and masks major weaknesses on our offense that I have a hard time believing ANY other qb in the league would be able to overcome, and no way in hell does ANY qb in the league become MVP with our current offense. we've been able to build a fantastic defensive core because of that, slowly bringing along the offense (our offense last year, WTF!! Cam won a friggin playoff game with 2 fractured vertebrae with that mish mosh on offense we fielded).

Cam is an enigma, a one and only. he is the all around physical version of Peyton Mannings brain. since his first snap almost 5 years ago, I have had the absolute pleasure of seeing the greatest, as well as the most fun to watch football talent ive ever seen in my life, and its not even close on both accounts. this seasons results are a year or so early for what I was expecting based on how slowly our offense seemed to be getting put together, but its certainly not a major shock.

Cam over Eli

btw, when the hell is Cam gonna host SNL??
