So, you disagree that Gettleman intended to have Kugbila and Chandler as the starting RT and G?

You might wanna go back and look at when Chandler signed here, chief.

Quick clue: Chandler was a Hurney pickup. He signed as an undrafted free agent in 2012. Gettleman was hired in January 2013. And it was Rivera who had him switch from DL to OL, not either GM.

As to Kugbila, he was drafted to try and become a starter or contributor but couldn't because of injuries. It happens.

As to the idiotic notion that only Beane or the scouts deserve credit for guys like Norwell or Remmers, excuse me whilst I chuckle.

Thank you for showing your true colors. All hail Gettleman. Hall of Fame anyone? Do not try to tie Chandler at RT to Gettleman as his pet project. Blame it on someone else.

This is the issue people have speaking about Gettleman on this board. People like yourself will not speak to his misses/failures and are full of excuses for the man.

He has his hits like Star, Trai and KK. He also has his misses like the WR situation in 2014, the OT project, missing on RBs in the draft, and horrible veteran free agent signings in 2014 that had to be cut. Luckily he has Cam Newton to cover up the issues with the OL and WR positions.

We have the best record the team's ever had and we're going to the Super Bowl, or hadn't you heard?

The only people who still want to try and trash Gettleman at this point are one or two delusional numbskulls with Lord only knows what motivation. As this thread illustrates, most of us are very happy with him.

If you wanna continue to push the idea that somehow this success is happening in spite of the GM who's running everything, the only thing you'll accomplish is to make yourself look really, really stupid.

But hey, if that's your goal, have at it.

Scot isn't the problem here, you are. No one is making excuses for Gettleman and no one with half a brain would think excuses would have to be made for a guy who has picked most of the personnel on three super bowl teams.

What exactly are you trying to prove with your contrarian attitude?

I stead of being happy to have been wrong some strange people enjoy doubling, tripping,  quadrupling down on their initial belief. It's what a select few of national media do with this team.

I could not have imagined our new GM being this good so far.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
