It would be sick if we still had Barnidge.

As panther fans we need to change our way of thinking.

No more "What ifs"

We have the #1 offense, and we're in the Super Bowl.

Don't get no better.

Even if we are not in the Super Bowl, I hate those "what if" threads.

So it is not worth talking about the possibility of still having a guy who grew up with the Panthers finally emerging as one of the top offensive tight ends in the league after years as a backup?

You know what I hate? People that post negative comments in a thread others may have an interest in discussing? If you do not care for a topic, move on and it will move to the back of the forum.

IMO yes it's not worth because no matter how hard you try to dream about how great this team will be if he's still on this team, you will find that you are wasting your time.

Because he IS NOT on our team, it's that plain and simple.

As you say you hate people posting negative comment on something you are interested in, well I guess you don't fit the huddle. We say what we want to say here and I don't care about how you feel. Maybe it's negative for you but it seems quite positive for me.

No way, Barnidge is good but he'd be a square peg in our offense.  If you watched him at all this year, the guy has almost no ability to block, and that works when you use a guy in the same way the Saints used Graham, but when you get him in an offense like ours where every person on offense needs to be able to run block, a TE can not be a void as a blocker.

Barnidge has always had great hands.  His issue was he could block to save his ass.  Olsen may not be the best blocking TE in the league but he has improved since he got here.  If Barnidge had learned to block while he was here.  He would still be here.  Dickson is good but not nearly the hands Barnidge has but blocks well.  Since we a run first team TEs gotta block that is why we have Dickson and not Barnidge.

BTW when he was here I was on is bandwagon.

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
