I know that he's not the worst blocker in the league, but he is pretty poor at it, and that's OK.

Typically I want my TE's catching passes, just like Olsen is doing for us, and not being inline blockers.  However, we already have Olsen, if we are getting another TE, we damn sure don't need Gates....another TE who I have seen a ton of games from.

He can't run any longer, he's a surefire HOFer, but he's not that anymore.

I didn't mention Gates.  I was talking about Scott Simonson.  I think he's going to be a really good pass catcher.

Agreed. If we can find a great blocking TE that has some athletic potential to eventually turn into a good pass catcher in the later rounds of the draft then I would be thrilled.
