That has less to do with Tolbert that it does opponents and other players that were hurt.... He played in both our losses this season..... Contributed to the sb loss.s

This is a terrible argument and doesn't refute the original point at all. He played in our losses, yes, but he also played in most all of our wins (17 in case you didn't know). In 2014 we won a single game without him in the line-up and 8 with him.

If you are to say there isn't causation i'd like for you to present a more plausible argument for our struggles that coincided with Tolberts absence in 2014.

I'll wait.

Would seriously like us to pick Ward back up - the guy is a friggin beast - anyone know what he is up to these days?

Isn't he a one note pony? Good blocker, but can't carch a cold. If he had an upside wouldn't he be on the practice squad?

I still think we try to square-peg/round-hole the guy. So-so blocker and terrible short-yardage back, despite how we use him. Very good in the passing game but not used there enough. I'd rather have a legitimate traditional full back (lee ward-type) but if losing Tolbert means we are putting Dickson or someone like that back as a blocker, no thanks; just bring Tolbert back.

Wouldn't call him terrible short-yardage. Maybe now, but Prime Tolbert is a guaranteed yard or three. Agree completely that we don't pass to him enough though, and if we aren't bringing in a stout blocker I'd rather they keep the Cam/Stewart/Tolbert triple threat.

    • Ravens mixing it up with a random Mark Andrew tush push last year isn't a similar situation.  Lamar has run QB sneaks his entire career.  And often instead of a traditional sneak will even employ a 4th and 1 direct snap to Lamar simply because of how athletic he is (which even Cam did a lot of) and let him pick his own holes.
    • height being an issue doesn't just mean batted balls.  You could argue Bryce minimizes batted balls by adopting other poor habits such as his jump passing and leaving the pocket.   As I said, there are plays you can point to where he clearly was blind to parts of the field/players....which kills plays and opportunity. Which actually means some of the shorter/hot throws when things break down are where his vision gets blocked (and he had below average production all around the line of scrimmage).   has he figured it out? I mean, he improved off a trainwreck start.  But Bryce Young since arriving in the league (even while figuring it out)......doesn't generate much offensive production vs his peers.  I just think his ceiling is low.   And that's not in the grand scheme what you want in the NFL.  I think he can develop into a serviceable QB, that will largely always been a middle of the pack or low end starter.
    • People make a lot of noise about his footwork and I think it is overblown. Whether he takes 3 steps backwards or 5 small steps doesn't matter as long as he ends up at the right depth and is in sync with  the receiver regarding timing. If he does that consistently who cares as long as he has a firm stable base as he delivers the ball. Which he does need to work on. However even that is somewhat overblown given that often QBs have to throw off balance or from different arm angles to fit the ball around defenders. He is considered very accurate so apparently it isn't hurting him that much.
