Just realized who Shaq Lawson reminds me of....

The superior athlete doesn't always have the superior career. Attention to Lawson doesn't take away Dodd's ability to tackle, beat his one-on-one match ups, set the edge, etc.

That's true, but I'm talking about Lawson putting up nearly identical stats (12.5 sacks each, 24.5 TFL vs 24 TFL) to Dodd despite receiving more attention from the OL. And it helps one DE when the other is drawing double teams, just look at how well CJ played with Hardy on the opposite end.

This is my concern when it comes to the Clemson DEs.  Rarely does a college team truly have two elite NFL defensive talents on the same DL.  One of them usually ends up being a fraud who was floated by the other.  Who's the real deal and who's the fraud?  We saw it with our own Julius Peppers.  Ryan Sims, the DT on his same college DL, went in the top 10 in the same draft and never did anything in the NFL.

Also, Mario Williams with Manny Lawson and whoever the DT(McCargo?) was that went in the 1st.

Dodd is not nearly as good of a prospect as Lawson.  He's 24 and he's in the 20th percentile of NFL DEs for athleticism.  Lawson is 21, is one of the most explosive athletes in the entire draft class, and played with a knee injury last year.

Dodd might be a good player - but I'd much prefer betting on Lawson's upside.

Interesting that many of the mocks I have seen on CBS, ESPN, etc actually have Dodd going before Lawson.  Several have them going within a couple picks of each other in the low teens.
