I didn't think I'd like this, at all.  I went in not hyped, period, to this open beta.

And I played it.  And I really liked it, a lot.  It won me over.   The graphics are good enough, but I don't mind because for a multiplayer game it ran smooth.  I played on PC and had hardly any issues or really any lag.  Servers were mostly stable for a huge open beta.   Minus a few things, I think it's pretty balanced.    I may be picking this game up for sure.

Anyone else play?  Open beta was extended so it's still up today.

I think it's a great game and will be picking it up for the Xbox One. I think some of the hero's powers and ability are a little OP..like Bastions turret. Other than that, I think it's a nice breath of fresh air for the vidgya world.

Bastion is OP.  Definitely one of the things that needs fixed a bit but if that's the worst then, they did a pretty good job.  In ranked, he probably won't be as OP since you'll have teammates and hopefully the get behind him with Tracer or w/e and take him out.

If you aren't playing on pc you are playing it wrong. Loved the open beta. Wasn't to hype on it before I played it then was sold really hard

I think PC will have better competitive matches because people are more used to playing objectives on there, and games like TF2 and whatnot.

After all of the hype I was expecting some great revolution in FPSs...

played about 6 hours this weekend, was disappointed.

It was a fine FPS and Im sure Id get my 60 bucks out of it if I bought it but not sure if Ill drop the cash.

There will never be a revolution of FPSs at this point, not before VR catches up.  Titanfall was the closest to do it and it wasn't as popular as everyone thought it would be (it was great though).

The reason Overwatch will be good is balance, and that it's backed by Blizzard, meaning it won't die off in 2 months like all other FPS games and whatnot.  Blizzard will continuously add new characters and maps and support this game for years and years.   There is not a FPS this balanced really since Call of Duty 4 I don't believe.

Although it's not honestly a FPS in the traditional "TDM" sense.  It's more Team Fortress which I wouldn't call an FPS either.  The style is an FPS, but the gameplay/modes don't really push it that way.

It definitely suffered from the couldn't live up to the hype syndrome.  I have literally only heard one person speak negatively about it before I logged in Sat morning and he is a miserable man who never says good things about anything.

I liked the changing heroes mechanism which should avoid the miserable curb stomping you get when you just get a bad match-up. Of the toons I played I felt there was a nice balance to them and a ton of variety.

But at the end of the day I didn't think there was anything about it that would keep it from turning into what so many of these games become.  People who pour 100s of hours into it roflstomping the casuals and finding ways to cheat the brackets so they can grief the less skilled.

I hope Im wrong as I have quite a few friends who are committed to picking it up and I enjoyed playing this weekend.  It just fell short of the "SHUT-UP AND TAKE MY MONEY" experience I was expecting.

Yeah there will be great people that put in tons of hours, but they will play against OTHER people like that in ranked.   You could always just play quick play like open beta was.  Blizzard has years of experience with WoW's pvp ladder on how to do it (it's not perfect).  But any game will have the people that make it a job, you can't avoid that unfortunately.

I think they need to make it where you can't have more than 2 of the same hero though.   Going against 5 Bastion teams was annoying lol.

We're going to be a run first team with 3 receiving options better than any of the other players on past rookie 1k seasons. If you can't understand that, then it's a you problem, not a me problem. Arizona's previous basketball coach, Sean Miller, used to do something at the first team meeting of every season and I think it's soooooooooo applicable to this situation. He'd have every player right down how many minutes/points they expected to average that season and then he'd add them up.  It would show that if they all hit those numbers, we'd score like 125 points a game and need to be playing 7 guys at a time to get their minutes. That's pretty much how you guys are putting your T-Mac expectations out there, looking solely at the player and what you think he should be able to do, not how the offense will operate as a whole. Every yard one player gets is one less yard someone else can get.  It sounds like I just have more faith in Thielen, XL, and Coker this year than most everyone else.  But a big reason for that faith is because of T-Mac and how much he'll open things up for the rest of them and Bryce being the type of QB to take the open easy passes than force it to his #1. As I've said, if any one of the following happens... Thielen ends the season sub 700 yards, XL or Coker end up sub 500 yards... Then yes, I will then shift my expectations for T-Mac's rookie year to be at least 1,000 yard season. But since I have faith in those other 3 having solid seasons, it tempers my expectations yardage totals for T-Mac this year, and this year alone.  I've also clearly stated many times that I think he's going to reach 10 TDs. If T-Mac ends the season with 800 yards and 10 TDs, while Thielen gets 900-1,000 and XL/Coker each get around 600, I don't see any world where that is a failure for a rookie season for T-Mac. Because again, we're talking about expectations, not what is possible.  So given the other WR options, I can't EXPECT T-Mac to get to the 1k mark, which is a far cry from me saying I don't think he can get there. Do you really not see the difference there?
    • I don't recall anyone seeing this coming.  I mean, two seperate things for me.  I thought BB just might not work in college football because he is old grumpy man and college is about appealing to young kids.   So yeah, that could of gone great or horrible.  Coin flip.  This isn't that convo for me.  what we are witnessing right now play out.....this was never part of the disaster possibility/path discussed lol.  Really weird stuff.  Or maybe I missed the part where UNC hires a 20 year old "girlfriend" that apparently runs the Bill operation and before the season even starts is taking over more than just Bill but influence of the entire UNC operation.  That was her getting that official statement made today.  It was her sabotaging the Hard Knocks UNC show because she somehow wasn't the star.  Seems like elder abuse lol.  Only largely kidding.  You even got Charles Barkley saying he normally doesn't talk about personal lives of his friends but he might have to check in on Bill because this ain't normal stuff lol.  Anyway, it's entertaining.  Everything is a cartoon it seems these days.
    • I think its strange how you were claiming this guy was the second coming of Mike Evans and you can't even get behind 1k yards? I guess I have more faith in him than you
