misread its 1.22 per year. still somebody does it on average every year sometimes more than one

That's not what I was pointing out.

Just because a certain % of teams that start 0-2 make the playoffs, does not mean that that same % of teams that have made the playoffs started 0-2.

Your guess may be right anyway despite this, but to infer that with certainty from the stat in the original post is incorrect. Unless I myself am missing something here...

I'll be pretty shocked if we make the playoffs, unfortunately. I thought we were totally outclassed today -- like, Ryan moved the ball downfield completely at will, and meanwhile every completion or big run we made involved some spectacular catch or stiffarm or bit of luck. I was ready to toss the Philly game out as an aberration, but it's looking pretty clear that this team just isn't very good. I think we're pretty lucky to have kept this game close.

With all the "we would have won if we had done this....." or "the refs cost us this game....", this quote is probably the smartest post I've read here today. On our last offensive possession, they gave us 50 yards, no contest at all. And on their last drive, Atlanta went into that stupid "prevent" offense that every team hates where they do ball control and just try to kill the clock...it was a three and out. IF they had wanted, they could have easily have put the game away.

And why all the crying? 0-2 sucks, but it's not the end of the season. We can learn alot about ourselves this year.

22 teams that started 0-2 have made the playoffs in the last 18 years per the article. 22/18=1.222222

so 1.22 out of 12 teams on average that are in the playoffs started the season 0-2

if we go to the playoffs or have a great season you really cant say your supported us...im tired of all this negativity. we lost today by 8. against a playoff team. last year we lost to them by 17? and after that game it wasnt the end of the world, so why is it now? its only week 3 for f***ing sakes

I live in a fantasy land where Fox changes.

That's all I see when I read this.

    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
