Panthers historical cumulative win % - getting to .500

So I was curious to see how our 15 regular season wins in 2015 impacted Panthers' win % over time, including not just our cumulative win % which I knew was just shy of .500, but also looking at best 2 year / 3 year / 4 year / 5 year periods.

Here are the tables just in case this is of interest to others:

First, here's what the cumulative win % looks like season by season (regular season only, post-season not included)

10 is the magic number of games to win in 2015 if we want to end the season with a .500 or better cumulative record.  Of course I predict we'll win well over 10 games.  I'm thinking more like 13 is very doable.  Hopefully even more...

It would be so good to have the monkey of "never had back-to-back winning seasons" off the Panthers' back.  3 consecutive years of winning the division and getting to the playoffs is awesome, and I want to keep that streak going.  But let's start building a long 10+ wins per season streak.  I think this team & coaching staff can do it...

 

Here's what the historical 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 year period data looks like.   I know many of us are calling this a golden era for Panthers football, but 2003 - 2008 will take some time to beat.

The left column of each pair shows the 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 season win totals.  The right column shows the average games won per season in each period.

I was encouraged to see that with our franchise-best season in 2015, combined with the excellent 2013 season, we've currently reached best-ever 2 year, 3 year, 4 year and 5 year records.

Carolina - 166-169-1 (49.6%), playoff record 9-7

New Orleans - 331-418-5 (44.2%), playoff record 7-9

Atlanta - 330-432-6 (43.4%), playoff record 7-12

Tampa Bay - 241-386-1 (38.5%), playoff record 6-9

Sorry, I realize what I wrote was a bit misleading.

Yes, we can get above .500 much earlier in the season.   I was talking about finishing the season above .500   To do that will require winning 10 games.

We're at 166-169-1 right now.

Once we get above .500, I hope we never look back. When I'm old and talking football with my great grandkids, I want it to be known that the panthers were a winning organization. This is an important season.
