Details please?

The Carolina Panthers’ 2016 summer training camp, presented by Lowe’s, opens Thursday, July 28, at Wofford College’s Gibbs Stadium with the Lowe’s Kickoff Party. The celebration is from 4 to 9 p.m., with practice from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The party and practice are free and open to the public.

The Lowe’s Kickoff Party will feature performances by the TopCat cheerleaders, mascot Sir Purr, Purcussion drum line and Fuzion Force Entertainment Academy, a large-scale, high-energy dance group. Purcussion will unveil a new steel drum section, and the Mayor’s Ball Delivery, featuring mayors or their representatives, will kick off the season in style.

Children will be able to pound the Panthers’ “Keep Pounding” gate drums or get their faces painted in team colors and motifs. TopCats and Sir Purr will be available for pictures and meet-and-greet opportunities. Food trucks and a variety of other terrific concessions, along with Panthers merchandise, will be available for purchase.

Free parking is available on Wofford’s campus in several lots accessible via East Pearl Street from North Pine Street and North Church Street, and free shuttle bus service is being provided from the Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium parking lot as well as the city’s St. John Street parking deck in downtown. Shuttle service also will be available on weekends from Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s newly renovated Beaumont Mill on Pine Street. Handicap parking and free shuttle service will be available from the SRHS’s Pinewood Resource Center at North Pine Street and Pearl Street.

The shuttle buses will begin running two hours before the start of practice and will continue to run for two hours following the end of practice.

Parking also is free at other nearby parking lots, including the grass lot across North Church Street from Evins Street and the Spartanburg County Administration Building lot on North Church Street (weekends).

    • We don't have to tear down Dak to appreciate what Bryce did yesterday. Dak had 0 running game. If the cowboys were better, he'd be a legit MVP candidate if he keeps playing this way.  They did it with Ceedee last year, but they do a better job of anybody we play consistently of getting their best receiver off Jaycee.  Bryce was good too. If we just catch the ball that was intercepted, we probably win by 7+, and Bryce goes over 200 yards passing.  Biggest shift the last few weeks has been play calling. I thought Canales abandoned the run game way to early at times last year. This year he really seems to be sticking with it.  I still think Chuba is better at making 4 yards when there's nothing there, but Rico is better at making 30 yards when there's 6 there. I like the direction. Hopefully we can get Moton, Sanders and Coker back and really be dangerous. Our play action game is pretty deadly right now.  Unrelated: My favorite quality about Bryce right now is his ability to see the defensive hold and throw the ball there. He EXPOSES the officials when they don't call it. That one on Tetaroia yesterday late in the game was a bad miss on their part.
    • That sacks allowed number lookin juicy!
    • This is a game the Panthers should win... just the sort of game they lose. The Panthers have a bad habit that goes back years of playing down to the competition's level only to mess around and lose the game. The Jets game should be taken very seriously! But I want to enjoy the fact that they beat the Cowboys for at least another day or so!
