What is the appropriate response to the riots in Charlotte?

Moment of silence from the organization, it shouldn't be on the players to address it. The locked arms thing is really cheesy to me and doesn't really say anything. These are free men, let them do what they want during the anthem.

I think we (blacks) have these unfair expectations of the players, particularly the black ones, to be fvck the police. I agree, a moment of silence or a team kneel. I hated that locking arms. I would even expect Cam to have a pregame shirt speaking to peace or something.

FWIW, this isn't Charlotte.  This is a much smaller group of people looking to disturb the peace.  A bunch of hooligans giving the actual protestors a bad name.

Not sure why there are protests going on in Charlotte.  It seems to me like people are looking for any reason to riot and loot and blame the cops.  

The man was shot because he had a gun and was waving it at cops.

Understood, and this response makes sense.  But the problem comes when you realize to what extent we've made our sports stars cultural icons and somehow expect them to make us feel good.  So, rightly or wrongly the team will be bearing some of the city's burden on Sunday and their response as individuals and as an organization gets magnified,

I've seen lots of folks saying this.  I'm 4000+ miles away so can't speak to the truth of it.  But I've certainly seen this very thing happen in similar situations both in the States and overseas...

What's so tragic is that because of the rioting and looting and violence, the real issues and voices that need to be heard get lost, or many will tune them out.

If they can keep playing games with the always possible terrorist attack, who DO want to hurt people and do whatever they can to disguise themselves  where as the protesters are obvious about who they are and what they are wanting. And they do not want to harm anyone. Protest at the game all you want. If you protest and see a knucklehead trying to undermine what you are trying to accomplish call them out.

I wonder how the others know since they weren't at the scene of the crime, those that were for the most part of corroborated the police version of the story. I've only heard one "Witness" speak to the fact it was a book, we shall see how the witness accounts stand in court.
