John Fox where have you gone?

I support Fox 100%. I am just a armchair ref who has no idea how to run a team. Unless anyone has ever done this job it would be hard to critique another coach or "a" coach.

It may be that we have too many star quality players.

Back in 2003 we had a bunch of unknowns. Steven Davis was probably our best known player outside of the Carolinas and he was a cast off from the 'Skins.

Now we've got how many folks that have been to the Pro Bowl? Peppers, Smitty, Jake, Beason, Gross plus DWill, Stewart, Otah, Moose and Gamble (who get their props nationally as well).

We've gone from being the scrappy over achievers to, well, an NFL team.

And there's a big difference between "C'mon, we can do it!" and "C'mon we've done this before!"

That is a big aspect to what I have been trying to say.

Fox makes dismal franchises into legit NFL teams that contend for playoffs every year. He can't then elevate them into an elite team, as his whole philosophy is built on being steady and reliable. Which just generates a steady NFL team.

The elite ones are the ones who have something truely unique about them. The Steelers have their mantra about growing through the draft and being hard nosed, Pats in their numerous defensive fronts, Philly and their incredible blitzing background, Colts and the no huddle, Giants have the interchangable DL. We have standard reliable findamentals.

Just because I'm not a coach doesn't mean I can't identify good coaching. I can say this because the end results are all that matter. A good coach wins consistently year in and year out. I equate it to running a business. You might be a really smart, nice, well spoken person that owns a computer business. I will admit I know absolutely nothing about what it takes to run that type of company or make it flourish but I do know this.....If you're not making money consistently - you're not going to be in charge of that company very long.

If Fox is a great coach, he'll put money in the bank and show me some consistency in putting a winning team on the field at least once back to back in 8 seasons. To date, Fox has been successful every other year and we haven't won a playoff game since the 2005 season. Everybody has seen the start to our season and I think I saw the percentage of 13% or 14% of teams that start 0-2 go on to make the playoffs. That's an 85% chance we are going to be in decline again from last season. I simply do not feel like those numbers warrant Fox being labeled anything other than an "acceptable" or "mediocre" coach and since we will be 4 years removed from a playoff win after this season....Fox will be a mediocre HC with declining effectiveness.

Yea except he has gone too far. He is the other side of the poll. He controls everything...... Fox's problem is he dose not adapt well. We all have known since 06 that our front 4 was not getting pressure and we still have not adjusted to that even though we have seller LBs that can cover the pass as well as the run.

Yeah, that is my point. He still thinks he can get the same pressure he did with Rucker, Buckner, Jenkins and Peppers and the simple fact is he can't.

So quit rushing 4 and expecting anything special! Adapt.

I used New England as an example earlier, but the Defensive coordinators (past two) at Philly were/are also creative and ahead of the curve. They got more of out their players than we do with our vanilla 'bend but don't break' defense (I swear I'm having visions of the Marshall days...)

And is there ANYONE here who thinks Fox is a great or even mediocre half-time adjuster? Or a great or mediocre time clock manager? I've always looked over those issues before because he did have a good team and when he first started teams didn't know exactly what he was going to do on almost every play, but now they do. So the non-adjusting and horrible clock management is just salt in the wound...

Fox is a "system guy"

Fortunately for him, he has players that fit his system on offense.

His demise is going to come of his inability to find guys that fit into his defensive system and unfortunately it is going to end up costing him his job.
