John Kasay for HOF?

Kasay holds many NFL records as a placekicker. He is third all-time for field goals made from 50+ yards and is the only person to complete four field goals from 46+ yards in a single game.

Field Goals Made 386

Field Goals Attempted 473

Field Goals % 81.6

Long Field Goal 56

ill find out some of those other records.

Kasay is the best kicker in league history. When you look at number of attempts and attempts made from every 10 yard category, he is the best. Followed by Jason Hanson. However, the NFL Hall of Fame doesn't focus that much on kickers. If they decide to ever induct another kicker, they will most likely induct someone that had more hype (for whatever reason) like Morten Andersen or Gary Anderson.

Just because you're a kicker doesn't mean that you don't deserve to be a Hofer. That being said, Kasay does have that glaring screw-up on his record, and it is for that reason that I don't know if he'd have a realistic chance, even if kickers were given regular consideration. There is always hope.

Until Kasay wins a superbowl, the fact that he kicked that infamous kickoff out of bounds alone, is enough to keep him out

I think the world of Kasay, but the fact is, he just isn't HoF bound.

1. Kickers don't make it into the HoF. Only punters have a smaller shot at it.

2. Morten Anderson has a better shot at it, with the length of his career, the number of teams he has played for and the guy is beloved of many sports writers and players. (He has a wicked sense of humor).

3. From this generation of kickers, Viniateri is the only one who has a shot, and he's got those Super Bowl wins. He's the prototype kicker of this age of the sport.

Kasay's a great guy and I wouldn't want to ever see another kicker displace him from our beloved team, but I don't believe there is any way that he is Canton bound.

As Peter King once wrote, "If there was a Hall of Darn Good Players..."

    • Reasonable. I mean I didn’t see a clear path to relief this season myself. As I have typed already, I think the QB FA class is more interesting next season and that draft is supposed to be stacked as well. There just weren’t many options this year.  When you have Tepper to contend with you have to tread lightly around this unless you are 100% certain and willIng to stake your job on it.   There were a couple of outings that helped Bryce a lot in terms of  thinking maybe he can do this, and if you are a supporter you are giving them a lot of weight. You are likely to think just get him some more help and he can do that every week. Which I think Tepper falls into that category.  And the playoffs, division champs, regardless of the way I see that, the supporters will also give that a lot of weight.    And the big one, the atmosphere In BOA for that WC game, Tepper had to be soiling himself over that. If you pulled Bryce out right now you had better be right and your new guy had better make the playoffs and look good doing it or you will be gone and your chance to build your old team back into respectability will be gone too.  So here we have Pickett on a one year deal, and Grier and King. I understand it.
    • Well, seeing as we play the Lions at home this year, pretty sure that rumor isn't true.
