Steve Wyche: Negative Vibe Inside of Panther's Organization

JR played in the league and is a class guy by every account. But he did just fire his son, who would be the person with the last word on bonuses and many other decisions at the time.

It would be interesting to know just what's going on. I am also interested in knowing if the feeling does in fact exist, if it's gotten into the locker room.

The whole Trgovac episode is very disturbing. I know everyone here was happy to see him leave, but he wasn't fired. He took what was in effect a demotion to get out of here. And don't think he was pushed out either, it would have gotten out and been reported that way (remember the comments from players after Henning left?). And Trgovac wasn't the only one to bolt.

Very interesting stuff.

I'd be surprised if Richardson has ever heard of Carolina Huddle. I'm sure everyone else in the organization has, but not him.

FWIW, I've seen pics with him at the huddle's tailgate.... Since I wasn't there I cannot confirm nor deny.. I'm sure others would be able to though..

Not true. When I worked there I told him he should stop by the Huddle tailgate one time, and he did, no questions asked. Big Cat gets it. He hands out something to every employee....a handwritten note that says "The fans are the most important people in the organization."

Unfortunately, there is a "we're in and we need a wall that keeps people out for us to feel more important" mentality among many employees. I saw it first hand.

But don't think Big Cat doesn't care about the fans. Ask the people who were at the tailgate that day. He posed with their kids, stopped by and chatted for a while.

No, no, I don't doubt for a second that Richardson cares about the fans (even if he doesn't really GET what most fans want). It's just that the thought of him browsing on the Huddle is so hilarious that I couldn't process it. And that's neat that he showed up at one of the tailgates, but he probably thought that Carolina Huddle or Panthers Huddle or whatever we were when he showed up was just an exclusive tailgating group or something. If I'm wrong though, that's pretty cool. *Shout out to Big Cat who may be reading this thread*

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
