I still want to beat Atlanta, but after that I'm content with us losing. So, hopefully 6-10 atleast keeps us in the top 8

Well, I was pleased to discover that the Chargers play the Browns and have 2 home games against the hated NFCW, maybe the last games ever in San Diego?

The Saints still have the Bucs in the dome for revenge.

The Cardinals have the Saints at home and Rams.

The Bills have the Browns at home.

The Bengals have two hated rivals and mediocre teams at home.

The Eagles have two hated rivals and a Cowboys team that may have clinched at home.

The Colts have the Jaguars at home.

Summary-your dream and mine may come true.  A win against the Falcons and still pick 7 at worst.

Losing to the skins would be terrible, though. I know Norman is licking his chops for that game. I still remember his "you get what you pay for" comment(and he was right) after our ATL game and I'm sure he's got more to say.

Can't have everything.  Let him yap.  With our own 24 he'll be a distant memory as our team rebounds with a Fournette/Barnett/Peppers level talent and wins multiple rings while he's picking his nose.

The SOS in that article is not what ESPN has. ESPN has our SOS as .503, which is better for us and honestly I believe ESPN since it is based on a database query not someone putting together a table. Ours may go up a bit, but I think it won't go up much since Atlanta plays SF, Arizona plays NO, NO plays Tampa, NO plays Atlanta, etc. Lots of .500s coming to make up for any increases.

We will never get by the Bears, SF, Jax and Browns so #5 is the absolute best.

Eagles could easily lose 3 games but their SOS with Dallas will be above ours. SD has the Browns and even with the Browns, their SOS will be above ours since they play Oakland and KC. Rams play SF and Ari, but their SOS is going to get worse and I'd bet worse than ours. Jets have a crap SOS and even with the Pats, I think their SOS will be worse than ours. Even with Miami sans Tannehill and the Bills at home, they will likely be ahead of us (in the 1st). NO is tough, I think they'll win at least one and have a better SOS.

Out of the rest, if we win 0, we are at pick 6 or 7 behind the 4 above and Rams. If we lose them all, we could get to 6 ahead of the Jets. If we win 1, I think we are clearly behind the 4 above, the Rams and the Jets. We could also easily get behind the Eagles. I think SD and NO will finish behind us, so likely pick 8.

Arizona has LA and NO, so helps and hurts us. If they beat the Rams, we are in good shape. If they lose out, we'd get behind them, but also it could help the Rams too much. Bengals are ahead of us, but have a worse SOS, so if they lose 3 we could easily fall behind them as well. Colts have the Jags, so hopefully that's enough to keep them ahead of us because their SOS will be worse than ours. Bills have the Browns, Miami without Tannehill and the Jets, so we are safe with them.

If we win 2, we are going to be in trouble because we will be behind the 4 above, Rams, Eagles, SD and possibly Ari, Cincy and Indy. I don't think we'll pass the Bills so if we win 2, I think our worst case is 12. I don't think we'll win 3, so not going to worry about that.

So, since I don't think we'll lose out, we'll probably pick 8-12.

In that case, here's the guys who won't drop that far: Myles Garrett and Jonathan Allen. I don't think anyone else is not possible to drop.

I think that there is likely 1 QB taken in picks 1-7, so here's who else I think will be available to us:

DE: Barnett

RB: Fournette and Cook

WR: Williams

S: Peppers and Adams

CB: Humphrey, Wilson and Lattimore

OT: Robinson and McGlinchey

So, even 2 wins and we should still get a very, very good player added to the roster. 0 or 1 win would make it easier to get who we want.

At this point based on us likely picking around 10, I think I want Adams, Cook or Robinson/McGlinchey (if they grade out).

Not a bad post but the Bengals and Cardinals have ties so unless we tie SOS matters not with those teams.

Also, worth noting the Eagles have ZERO reason to "tank" since it's not them that'll be doing the picking.  The Browns will, while they look from afar and hope for the Vikings to lose for their pick.  I do think they'll win at least one of their remaining three.  We'll see.

My worry is that we could easily slip out of the top 10. 1-2 and we are likely still in good shape in the 8 range, 2-1 and we are likely 10+. 3-0 would fug it all up. Look at the SOS's of all the teams that could end up 8-8, we could pick in the 15 or so range and that IMHO would get us past the elite folks I listed above.

I'd like to sprinkle in some optimism for next season, but we better not fug up a top 10 pick.

Exactly.  Translation-a loss today would have allowed relatively guilt free cheering the last two weeks.  So, hope everyone enjoyed today.  We only have one "cheat day" now.
