Why The Hell Do We Keep Talking About "TE"?

Let's get another TE for Cam to throw to while his ass is eating dirt and grass. Yea don't see that happening.

Whatever man.  I literally just said it doesn't negate the other stuff.  In case you ignored that part, that would mean we would still need to improve that area, among others.

He hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.

We have more issues than TE.

But, he's on the wrong side of 30. Can't change that.

I wouldn't even begin to argue that TE is our biggest need, but depending on how the draft board falls I wouldn't be at all opposed to taking one. You're not going to improve your team at all by reaching on guys based purely on need. Your need isn't going to make that marginal prospect a better player.

Greg just went for his third straight 1000k season.

Before last weekend, Trai Turner was playing RT for us.

There's no TE even worth taking in the top 25. OJ Howard is the best in this class and his a projected late 1st.

I really don't want to see Trai Turner playing Tackle again.

Gettleman is likely going to do what he always does, and take the BPA. Now what you must ask yourself is is there an OT worth drafting over a top-end TE. Moreover, I think that it is philosophically better to acquire a veteran OT in FA, as they will be decidedly better situated to make an impact than a rookie.

You clearly aren't paying any attention to what I'm saying so knock yourself out.

    • I have considered free agency.  LT?  Either not good enough or too expensive.  Besides, this is a good OT draft.  (I would rather have a free agent, mind you, but the Panthers' reality suggests we can't do it without neglecting other positions).  What LTs are available in free agency, and what do you expect to pay?  Any Ickey-level OT is going to cost over $20m.   How much do we already have invested in our OL?  I get your point, but I do not think you can spend over $100m per on your OL. We have 2 guards and a right T who pull in about $75m per season.  We don't have a center yet.  Teams just don't let good LTs hit free agency, and when one does on rare occasion, he is expensive.  If you want a third of the Panther cap going to 5 Offensive Linemen, free agency is the way to go.  We still need S, ILB, Edge, WR, etc. I think we'd need more than Nijman--and I would understand if we went free agent for a T--but that is putting a TON of your cap at OL--so considering our situation, I do not see that option as preferable.  You may disagree. If I was not talking LT on our line and thinking about the cap, I would agree 100%.
    • Will be interesting to see how they come out tonight. The Boston game seemed to open the flood gates of media attention. And it’s not just that they’re playing well, in some instances they are getting compared with all time greats. This is still a young team, and it would be easy for an immature team to lose some focus, buy into their own hype, and think they can coast bit. The Heat are a middle of the road team without their leading scorer. There is no big dragon to slay, no big statement to make. I think we’ll learn a lot tonight: are they young but mature, or do they still have a ways to go mentally?
    • Panthers North for the win. Good luck to him. Great guy, hated to see him leave here, but he's about to work with the best QB he's ever worked with (at least on a regular basis).
