Wilks interviewed for Rams head coaching job and Redskins defensive coordinator job this offseason.

 

Wilks started his coaching career at Johnson C. Smith. Said it is great to reach this goal in his career where it all started in Charlotte.

 

Wilks said goal is to get the Caroljna defense back into the top 10 in the league. Will stress tackling, takeaways and points.

 

Wilks says McDermott was "well overdue" for a head-coaching job.

 

Steve Wilks said LB Luke Kuechly will be "ready to go" in the spring after two concussions in the last two seasons.

Wilks believes it's a major plus for him that he knows the players so well after 5 seasons in Carolina. The advantage of hiring from within.

The stress on takeaways is no shock given his background, but I'm happy to see him talk about tackling as well.

Tackling wasn't good this past season, and missed or poor tackles cost us a fair share of points.
