Change in offensive philosophy

Our problems started game one when we added absolutely no one to stop the Blitz Denver used on us in the Superbowl. Dave takes that blame.

Really? It's that easy huh? So we should have signed who? Who did you want them to sign last off-season? Name the guy that would have guaranteed be better than what we had. At an affordable price. There aren't enough quality starting LTs to even fill the starting jobs. Who is this magical, affordable player? And were you pounding the table for them last summer? Not now. Then.

For what it's worth @UpstatePanther, there mat be a shift towards more plays called for the slot receiver.

“His experience as a slot receiver, (which is) something that we really want to feature and highlight as we start going forward, is something that we feel can help us even more,” said Rivera."

Note that Gettleman mentioned how deep the position is this year also.

Free Agency will show a lot

Still, Ron's going to Ron and Dave is going to Dave.

i can not see either one of them passing up on a top edge rusher in the first round.

it is in their DNA, particularly this year, picking in the top 10 with the offenses in our division

I would dearly love to see a top tier offensive talent selected by the Panthers in the first round ( Fournette or Howard to be able to run a true TE set ) but I just can't see them doing it...I am not even sure this pair knows how.

...and then, there is Dorsey and Shula...they best hope for Ron's longevity.

    • There probably isn’t an orthopedic surgery that has had more improvement in technique and outcomes over the last two decades than the acl repair. Because of its importance in pro sports and the sheer number that surgeons do there have been lots of opportunities to practice 1. Better techniques - arthroscopic v open surgery means people heal faster  2. More training - all sports med surgeons have tons of experience doing them 3. better imaging - later generations of mri are more sensitive  4. better therapy - PTs have gotten better at rehabbing them and the theories of rehab have improved a lot. No idea about brooks in particular tho, but I’d describe that overall situation as “not great”
    • If Freeling or either of the Utah OTs dropped to 19 I'd be more than happy honestly. Our OT situation isn't great with an aging Moton at RT and a mess of a situation at LT if Walker goes down at any point in time.  What I'm expecting the Panthers to do is probably draft another weapon like Sadiq or KC Conception. That's been their track record in drafting R1 thus far. None of the defensive talent projected to be around 19 stands out to me. Unless they just want to draft a LB early (Rodriguez,  CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Jake Gollday).
