The reason we are losing

is that we're getting whipped on both lines of scrimmage. Its not surprising for the DL given the injuries and lack of depth. But the OL...poor pass protection...inability to consistently run the ball...is surprising. It could be that since the OL goes against the DL in practice that they are playing down to their level and then getting a rude awakening on game day.

It looked like the offensive line did a fine job in pass protection to me. However, the Cowboys were killing the run, but that's mostly because of playcalling, as you can see from the successful runs.

You can't only run the ball 15 times on a running based team and say the OL isn't run blocking well. You keep at it and either of our backs will hit a big run.

That's exactly right. I think the coaching staff freaks out the first time one of our backs gets stuffed, and then they decide to air it out. DeAngelo and Stewart have both shown that if you keep feeding them the ball, they will break a big one eventually (which will then open up the passing game).

We should have run the ball much more, especially in the second half against a tired defense.

Hard to run when teams know you're going to run

We ran for 144 yards against ATL, and still lost. Its MANY reasons not mainly one

Every team in the league knew we were going to run last year. We faced the (then) league's best run defense in Tampa Bay and embarassed them. The run game was our bread and butter last season, albeit against weaker defenses. That doesn't change that we have backs that WILL make something happen if given enough chances. Hell, even if we run the ball and go three and out, is it that much worse than these incomplete passes?

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
