No First Round Pick, No Big Deal!

I know that we may suck right now, and as much as i tried to fight the thoughts i had an idea we might be 0-3 going into the bye week. I really do think we are going to come back with 3 straight wins against easier competition like the Skins, Buccs, and i think the Bills, to go to 3-3. Anyway i know everyones all upset about not having a first rounder next year, and im here to tell you its not the end of the world.

The draft isnt the end all, be all of the offseason, there is a Free Agency period thats just as important. We are going to have a ton of cap room ( in comparison to this year ), and our *new* head coach is going to upgrade this team how he see's fit through FA. Theres not likely to even be a cap, so we can essentially spend as much as we want if Jerry is serious about winning in Carolina. But we still must spend wisely. We will still have an early second rounder if we continue to suck, and hopefully we can get a play maker on defense on the Line or in the Secondary our 2 weakest areas.

We wont have to use big money on a first rounder who could essentially be a bust, and we could even trade into the 25-32 range *without* giving up a first rounder next year if theres a player we really want ( hey Beason went 25 )..So all is not lost, and just think, 49ers basically lost there first round pick this year, so we had to be the nice guys and give them another shot!

It's still too early as i said, i see 3-3 on the herizon, but it wouldnt be a bad idea to just peak at who might be available next year in the capless FA market..

E.Brown is our first round pick for 2010. Maybe he'll learn a lot this year to justify that pick at least for next year.

Still, it might hurt if we "could have" had a top pick, but don't get to make it. I know how it's expensive and all, but still...it's fun to imagine getting a player like Ndamukong Suh, or Eric Berry.

    • What people fail to understand is Lance had a college career that lasted about as long as teenage boys first intercourse.  To say he was raw was an understatement.  So much so that even a QB whisperer had a difficult time molding him into a polished NFL product on top of multiple nagging injuries.  The dud is in his mid-twenties, finally healthy and little miles on the tread.  Low risk, high reward.  If he's available, it would be stupid not to kick the tires.  It took Darnold and Mayfield to hit their 3rd or 4th team for things to finally click.  This is Lance's 3rd stop, I believe.  It's either time for it to click for him or be relegated to a full time backup. Roll the dice....
    • Wrong.  At least we put a QB sneak in the play book and and add plays over 20 yards.
    • I don’t know if people realize that Evan’s was one of the top TE prospects in college  before having some horrible injuries. I wanna say he had two major injuries in back to back seasons which limited his play and dropped his draft stock.
