Gantt thinks you're overreacting

he had nothing to do with either of these picks.

Fisher was outspoken in his desire to draft Matt Leinart since they had Norm Chow in Tennessee at the time.

Haynesworth was a financial decision.

I am not disagreeing...but if one blames Fox for those things one should blame Fisher for these, no? Neither one is the GM of their team, or the owner. Unless one thinks that Fisher has less personnel power than Fox, which is a possibility. I just don't know.

If I have a pet peeve as a journalist, it's when conventional wisdoms are propped up by something other than facts.

So after some cursory research, here's a look at what we're talking about:

Jeff Fisher: Career regular season record 128-105 (.549)

John Fox: Career regular season record 63-52 (.548)

Jeff Fisher: One AFC Championship (lost Super Bowl)

biggest red herring

"hmmm let me completely ignore the turnovers and the horrid defense that is probably ranked in the bottom 5 in PA and total yards without looking and front his cool overall record!!!!!!!!!"

what a hogwash spewing tank of excrement

also, someone needs to point out that the titans were in the worst cap hell of any team in NFL history for about three years there. bud what's his name basically sold out for a two year run and they couldn't get past the ravens.

what fisher was able to do righting that ship is incredible.

Gantt is a sh*t journalist. What other "facts" does he need to conclude our team and coach sucks?

On offense, we're 26th in overall yards and 29th in overall points

On defense, we're 21st in overall yards given up and 30th in overall points given up

Well Gantt is that enough to over turn your opinion on Panthers fans not recognizing the "facts" according to you?

I have no problem with some of the reporting..its just he comes off as a asshole IMO..when he is on wfnz..he talks down to the fans..like we are stupid.

well if this board is any indication panthers fans are barely literate, let alone intelligent

The way I look at it we have had 4 major problems this year.

Jake - I still very unsure about him but I realize it's not at all far fetched to think he can pull it together(but keep Fox next year should be contingent on him making serious moves for a new QB)

Defense - we all knew the defense was likely to start off rough. injuries have just compounded the problem. I think we'll end the season with a very different opinion of the D

Peppers - I have zero problems with a player get paid out the ass even if he doesn't deserve it. I have a problem with him completely handcuffing the team in the off season and then laying a egg like he did in dallas

special teams - Fox can only stay if Crossman is GONE

3 of those 4 can be fixed and I still think Fox can fix them. He fuged up, but everyone does at some point. Proudiddy does make an excellent point though. I think Fox can change without getting fired though. Just a feeling.

    • Either way there's some tough teams on the schedule this year, on paper anyways.
    • Same. I would prefer a MNF game earlier in the season. As if more likely has some significance in case things go south this season. If we perform well enough we could even get another game forced to a Sunday night spot later in the season.
    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
