#8 is such a sweat spot...will a great player drop to us?  Probably.  I totally see Allen being there.  But the more I see, if Hooker is there we HAVE to do it.  He is amazing.  Thomas too.  Otherwise McCaffrey will retire as a GREAT Panther. My 2cents.

John Ross at 12?  More likely we take Marion Ross at 1.  No way.  No offense but.  No way.

12 is a little rich for sure, but if Howard, both rbs, Adams, etc are off the board, it seems like it could happen.

What about Barrett? MCM? DCook? Solomon?

I am not sure what your "etc" means but trust me brother, all I want is a 10 year stud, game changer, SB bound player.

Ross is a Lambo in the garage more often than not IMO.

This is coming from the guy who just started a thread with the premise we should give up everything to get LF.

I want San Fran to trade down to 12 with Cleveland, and watch Cleveland take Trubisky. Then I want Chicago to take Adams. Then, Jacksonville can take Watson. Then Tennessee can trade down with Cincy so they get Fournette. And then the Jets take Hooker. And Chargers take Thomas, giving them a crazy good pass rush duo. -Panthers trade down to 10 so Buffalo can get a QB in Kizer. Tennessee gets Allen at 9.
Panthers trade down to 12 with San Fran, who wants to move ahead of Aints to get Mike Williams, so Shanahan has his new Julio. They'll also take Mahomes with a later pick.

New Orleans then goes pass rush with Charlton.

Panthers on the clock at 12. Barnett, Lattimore, Howard and McCaffrey are the best available. Wait...we have another trade...Eagles are now on the clock and they select Howard, fearing the Cards might take him. This gives Wentz a great option for when Alshon and Wallace can't get open.

Cards take Lattimore, and now have an insanely good secondary. They love this pick.

Panthers now on the clock at 14. They finally settle and take McCaffrey.

Full trade details: #8 and #98 for #10 and #75. Then #10 for #12 and #109. Then #12 for #14 and #99.

Panthers end up with #14, #40, #64, #75, #99, #109, and #115.

pie for the effort - and the username.  Now you need to bundle 40, 75, and 109 to get back in the first for a TE.  We need 5-6 solid players/contributors out of this draft.  I doubt more than that can make this team.

My ideal scenario is us dropping to 12.

In that scenario, Saints don't go full stupid and try for McCaffrey, and we get him.

Then trade up to get Njoku and you'll see a very happy man.

If we land any combo of Fournette/McCaffrey/Howard/Njoku we're going to the Super Bowl remember who told ya

No need to bundle to get a TE. Godwin at 40, Butt at 75. Offense is revamped with youth just like that.

At 64, Trey Hendrickson. At 99, Desmond King.

Now you've got DB, DE, TE, WR, RB. The other 2 picks can be traded or used on LB and OL.

King can play S or CB, so he starts off as depth at CB and moves to S eventually. But there's a spot somewhere in the secondary he'd fit and be better than some current roster guys.

Hendrickson theoretically would be solid depth at DE, and someone would lose their roster spot for him.

McCaffrey replaces CAP on the roster. Butt finds a spot. Godwin battles with Charles Johnson and Bersin for a spot.

You've got Godwin, Funch, Benji, CMc, Shepard, Olsen, Stew, Cam, and Butt as your main offensive weapons now. That's called evolving.

I like the positions you filled, but you still have picks 109, 115, 133, 152, 192, and 233 unaccounted for.  I'd bundle these for better guys.  For example bundling 40/75 nets us Engram instead of Butt.  Bundling 64/109 nets us Godwin (although I kind of like Henderson, who we could probably get at 64).  Bundling 99/115 could net us Rivers, Kpass, or Walker instead of Hendrickson.  Then we bundle 152/192 for Corn Elder instead of King.  Finally at 233 we pick Tevi or Kalis for the offensive line development.

    • Here’s a summary of the JJ and Luke podcast transcript. Opening / Bryce Young Fifth-Year Option     •    JJ: Breaking news — Panthers picked up Bryce Young’s fifth-year option at $25.9M, guaranteed, coming in 2027. Combined with his 2025 salary of ~$6M, that’s $31M over two years — called it a “no-brainer.”     •    Luke: Enthusiastic about the move. Highlighted Bryce’s improving TD/INT ratios (11/10 → 15/9 → 23/11) and the value of entering year three with Dave Canales. Noted $25M is a bargain relative to the $60M top of market. Luke’s Personal Update — Charlotte Christian Football     •    Luke: Working with Charlotte Christian school football program, which hired a new head coach. Coaches include Greg Olsen, Luke, and Greg’s dad Chris Olsen (a New Jersey State coaching Hall of Famer).     •    JJ: Jokingly quipped that Charlotte Christian’s coaching staff is “the world’s greatest” — a Fox analyst, a Hall of Famer, and the best Panthers RB ever — all coaching middle school football.     •    Luke: Praised Chris Olsen’s deep football knowledge spanning decades and his ability to connect with kids. Round 1, Pick 19 — Monroe Freeling, OT, Georgia     •    JJ: Panthers were on the clock and submitted their pick almost immediately — a sign of confidence and preparation. Freeling is 6’7”, 320 lbs, played in the SEC in a pro-style system.     •    Luke: Loved the pick. Emphasized you can never have too many quality offensive linemen. Noted Freeling’s size, athleticism, and arm length as key traits. Said the pick also reflects team’s philosophy of drafting great people, not just great players.     •    JJ: Noted reporter Darren Gantt compared Freeling favorably to Jordan Gross — bigger, heavier, and faster — as a potential franchise left tackle.     •    Luke: Pointed out that young players like Freeling still have physical development ahead of them, comparing the trajectory to Christian McCaffrey’s growth from age 20 onward. Round 2, Pick 49 — Lee Hunter, DT, Texas Tech     •    JJ: Panthers traded up from 51 to 49 (pick swap with Minnesota) to grab Hunter. Played audio from Panthers area scout Kaden McLuhan, who scouted Hunter.     •    Scout Kaden McLuhan (audio): Said Hunter’s size is immediately striking, and that everyone around him spoke glowingly about his character, energy, and love for the game.     •    Luke: Praised Hunter as a massive (6’3”, 320 lbs, ~34” arms) two-gap nose tackle who fits perfectly in the Evero defense. Compared his prospect profile to Akiem Hicks. Said having Derek Brown, Bobby Brown, Derrick Brown, Terson Wharton, and now Hunter creates varied body types that stress offensive linemen.     •    JJ: Noted Hunter ranked third among all prospects in run-stuff rate and sixth in interior pass-rush win rate — addressing a perception that he couldn’t rush the passer. Rounds 3–7 Highlights     •    Luke: Highlighted WR Brazle (3rd round, 6’4”, 437 speed, 1,000+ yards at Tennessee) as the vertical threat the offense needed. Also praised OL Sam Heck (5th round) as a technically sound player whose “short arms” caused him to fall but who has proven himself.     •    Luke: Mentioned CB Will Lee (6’1”, 33” arms) fits the Panthers’ DB prototype — big, long corners.     •    Luke: Praised S/LB hybrid Zaki Wheatley (5th round, 6’3”) as a big nickel similar to Trayvon Merek.     •    Luke: Excited about the linebacker competition between Devin Lloyd, Trevvin Wallace, and Claudin Cherless.     •    JJ: Noted Panthers had the #1 “steal/overreach” rating in the entire draft — drafting players lower than consensus big boards projected. Around the League     •    Luke: Admitted being “a little jealous” that the Miami Dolphins drafted LB Jacob Rodriguez (Luke’s favorite LB in the draft). Has personal connections to Miami’s coaching staff (Jeff Hafley, DC Shawn Dugen — a childhood teammate).     •    Luke: Also noted Miami’s selection of OT/G Kaden Proctor out of Alabama, who will likely move to guard. League Trends — Bigger Tight Ends / 12 & 13 Personnel     •    JJ: Observed the NFL saw its highest run rate in ~11 years (~52%) and a notable pivot toward big blocking tight ends in this draft.     •    Luke: Explained the cyclical nature of NFL offense/defense evolution — as defenses get smaller to match spread offenses, teams counter with bigger personnel (12/13 formations), which then forces defenses to get bigger at the nickel/“big nickel” spot. Called it an ongoing arms race.
