Why the Panthers will draft Lattimore

The hamstrings are my only worry.  He's an elite athlete, but those soft tissue injuries are a concern moving forward.

He could absolutely help out against some of the top tier talent we face, and it depends on how Wilks wants the defense to cover.

We did a lot of off zone (please correct me, I'm not down with the lingo!) which allowed our guys to react more often that putting them with a one guy the whole game.  Will there be a philosophical change of how we use our DBs?  If there is, that changes the value of a top tier DB compared to what we have done historically.

If the team feels like he will help us the most, I wouldn't be upset.  Then again, I have that feeling for like 15 guys.

Why would anyone be upset about this pick.  We would by far have the best duo of young corners in the division.  This is a passing league...

People would be upset b/c they want us to go offense/get Cam weapons, etc.

Not saying I'd personally be upset though, could potentially excel behind our front 7 paired with Bradberry.

I am fine with getting defense at 8 as long as he is an elite prospect and that prospect will play significant snaps. My last point excludes guys like Reuben Foster and Johnathan Allen, they might be elite prospects but they will not find time on the field. Also, if we pass up guys like McCaffery or Howard for Gareon Conley or Derrick Barnett, I will be livid.

Lattimore came out and informed the media it was hamstring that he tweaked at the combine. It was a hip flexor.

Marshon Lattimore @shonrp2

Wasn't a hamstring injury, it's my hip flexor. I'm good y'all lol

Was a Tweet he shot out after combine.

But other sources say he has a history of some hamstring issues.

This will come down to DG's thoughts on Worley...with Captain being our nickel, Worley goes to the bench with us drafting Lattimore

So if it's depth u want, this is a deep draft for solid CB talent. Couldn't it be argued that we should take one later while grabbing a position like RB or DE in the 1st where the top tiers are a lot better then in later rounds?

I want offense in the worst way but I couldn't be mad at this pick. He is an elite prospect and would instantly improve our secondary. And with a couple years and the addition of a soild young safety we could be looking at NO FLY ZONE 2.0. the only defensive guys that would throw me into a hissy fit are Allen or Barnett at 8.
