Is Anyone Concerned About Cowher.....

anyone worrying over a coach we don't have should find new hobbies.

Certainly, anyone thinking that buying a former Super Bowl winning coach guarantees anything should seriously reconsider that.

And for the record, Seifert inherited an offense. Nothing more. It was his defense. Then won a 2nd championship. And never went 8-8 there. By some of your expectations, he was a better choice than Cowher is now. No one knows what Cowher would actually do here, so it's hard to suggest that it matters three games into a season he's not coaching.

No, big difference. Bill Cowher built his team that won the super bowl. Siefert won with Walshs team that was loaded with super bowl talent when he took over.

16 years. It took 16 years for Cowher to win a Super Bowl.

I think that the people hoping for Cowher to come here are expecting instant wins when/if he does, and that is just stupid.

I have said it before. If your only reason for not wanting Cowher is because it took him 15 years to win the SB. It took Tom Landry 12 years to win one. If Jerry Jones hadn't paid off O'Donnell to throw two wide open interceptions, Cowher would have won one in his 6th season. Just admit you don't like Cowher and that is the reason you don't want him here. Personally I don't care, I would rather have a new coach over a retread.

How many has John Fox won? You think he'll win one in less than 14 years? You people act like super bowl winning coaches grow on trees.

Well, the bright side, we have a DE that we gave up a #1 draft pick for that seems to me to be far better suited as a stand-up LB in the 3-4.

To be quite honest, I'm more worried about Fox. Hopefully, he'll figure out a way to win a few games so that we don't help build the 49ers house for the next several years.

Cowher won't become Seifert 2 because he won't coach here. Still, if you like the idea, here are the stats of the two coaches before Carolina.

Seifert: 98-30 (.766) with two superbowl wins in 8 seasons in SF. Overall playoff record: 10-5 (made playoffs 7 times in 8 seasons)

Cowher: 149-90-1 (.623) with one superbowl win in 15 seasons in Pittsburgh. Overall playoff record: 12-9 (made playoffs 10 times in 15 seasons)

You may now proceed to make excuses for Cowher, I know some of you are dieing to.

    • The last child @ home has told me he wants to go to a game, so we're seeing vs Rams on the 30th
    • Did we really shut them down though? They had 369 yards of offense.   That is 9 more yards than they average per game and 53 more than we give up per game this year.   If a team gave up 369 yards per game on defense, they'd be the 7th worst defense in the league this year. Yes, I will give our defense credit for having the 4th down stand near our goal line as well as creating the fumble that stopped their first drive, as they did rise to the occasion then, but even the INT was just a ridiculous play/throw and handed it to us and they also missed a FG. We didn't force them into a single punt all game.  We had 1 sack on a QB who had 37 pass attempts. They had drives of 56, 49, 50, 43, 58, and 71 yards (while we only had 2 over 40 yards ourselves). We bent, a lot, but never really broke, partially due to the Packers own mistakes, that's a far cry from "shutting them down" in my opinion.  Again, this is why I'm critical of us after a day like today, I'm able to look beyond a final score and evaluate how we played on the whole, and we keep squeaking out these wins despite not playing well at all.  And yes, that is what great teams do, but they also play well in the majority of their games, where as all we seem to do is squeak out ugly wins without ever playing all that well. I'm not saying I'm unhappy that we won, I've never once said anything like that, but when week after week I see serious concerns with how we played, then I'm going to call out what I see.
