Stock Up, Stock Down (Preseason Game 1)

Up - obviously Byrd, Webb, KB, but I was very happy with Clay's speed, particularly on that reverse.

Down - Duke looked lost out there, and Cole didn't shine like I had hoped based on all the camp hype and Cash made bonehead plays (like trying to pick up that fumble). The good news is that Cash did seem to always be near the ball, so there's potential, I was just expecting him to look a little more polished after being on the roster last season.

Glad I am not the only one that was disappointed in Cash.

 

Duke had a rough start, but remember, he is an undrafted from Charlotte playing the biggest game of his life. I thought after the nerves on that initial set, he rebounded nicely.  I am interested to see how the rest of his preseason goes.  Still has a shot for practice squad.

Zeek looked good in his limited action, and even got a sack!  He was in on almost every tackle, and showcased the speed to play LB at this level.

I still did not like that one bonehead penalty. He might get PS.

Also, Dayon Pratt was on the field almost the entire 2nd half for the Texans.  He couldn't get off blocks.  Looked in over his head.

Moton abused him on Byrd's 2nd TD.

Yeah really bad start for him but the fact he bounced back means alot. Still optimistic that he will make the PS.

Stock up: Anderson, Webb,Benji, Olsen, OL, Bryd, Clay, Southward, 1ST team def., CMC,Stew...We all know its preseason so players may not be playing as hard as regular season so really can't get too excited.

Stock down: Duke, Cole, teddy which was neva up, Shaq, really the backup defense sucked.

This is very encouraging as we were missing several key 1st sting players.

Also of note...the team had few penalties...good team discipline for the 1st preseason game.

LJ McCray caught my eye.  Heavy Hitter and constantly around the ball carrier.

In his limited action KB definitely took advantage of his opportunities and used his size to his advantage.  Can you imagine if KB starts playing with the tenacity that Smitty played with on a regular basis??  On his first catch, he absorbed contact, got YAC, stiff armed a defender and carried a few more.  That's the type of aggressiveness he needs to play with every down.  There is no reason he shouldn't be pushing people around out there w/ his size.

If he can consistently do that in regular season games, I think even @Promethean Forerunner might actually start warming up to him
