Love to see us add a Wolfpack alum but I think its a long shot.

Not sure why the practice squad would be a longshot at all.  He plays a position sucking wind for young depth and upside and clearly appears to have something worth taking a chance on, tangibly and intangibly.

I reeeeeeeally hope we sign him. I've seen a lot of Tocho as a Wolfpack fan, but as a draftnik as well, he was a guy I was hoping we would take in the draft. Kinda confused as to how he fell to the 7th round, but it is what it is.

A converted CB, Tocho's home in the NFL always seemed to be at SAF. The kid is an instinctual DB with a high football IQ and good measurables. He is a sound tackler and versatile enough to support the run and get physical in the box. He uses his body well and rarely let the player/ball get behind him.

He reminds me a bit of Aaron Williams of the Bills, so if we have a spot on our PS, I'd love to bring him a long. Give him a year or two under someone like Wilks and a mentor like Coleman and Adams, and I think we could have a future SAF in the fold.

However, like Mr.Scot said...... let's not get ahead of ourselves. There must be a reason why a late-round rookie is on the waiver wire.... especially a team that values defense like the Vikings do.

They've invested heavily in their DB corps and I think he just got squeezed out as I was thinking/hoping he would.  He shut down Zay Jones and had a great pick in coverage against him.  I was also impressed with the TFL against Dalvin Cook seen in the highlights.  I too hope we sign him to the PS.  Charlotte's own to boot!  No brainer.

    • Can confirm that Lloyd is interested in the UNC job and isn't using it as a crutch for a pay raise and that Arizona already has a contingency plan in place if he leaves. I'm beginning to think based on rumblings that's he already decided to leave and informed UNC and Arizona of this. "Both schools knowing explains the information coming out of Arizona."
    • With the DBs, I see more role definition than positional these days, so tend to view value a bit differently there...Basically, there's better defined roles to focus on rather than what position is listed next to their profile. Those roles: 1-The Outside Corner Group - obviously the highest valued DB  2-The Safety/Slot group - Higher-end safeties that can play slot/NB( I.E. It's the modern guy people want-- Hamilton, Branch, Pitre, Emman, the list goes on)   3-The smaller Nickel-only group.  Most of the time undersized guys that can't play outside -- the good ones end up out their 70% of the time these days with how much teams use 5/6DB sets.   4-The safety-only group    Regarding group 2: If you have a guy that runs in 2SH next to TM but then in a dime package be pulled into the slot so you can play Ransom/Scott back there, that's good value.   They really just play either spot at any given moment dependent on the matchup.  They allow for defenses to better disguise and make QBs think sideways.   Thieneman, McNeil-Warren, & Haulcy all fall into this group for me this year.
