To JR: A Simple Guide / Check List for Hiring an OC

Recommended Posts

Plan 1A:

A former OC who had great success calling plays ie recently fired HC

Plan 2A:

A current OC who had great success calling plays ie coaching staff let go

Plan B:

A position coach who learned and studied under a great OC

This really isn't that hard. No way in hell Shula should have EVER been hired as OC. Literally couldn't believe what I was reading the day he was hired OC.

Someone please send this memo to JR and Hurney

The owner doesn't hire the OC, the HC does. At this point, Shula's failures are Ron's failures. He's made it clear Shula is his guy. He not only condones this, he WANTS this.

The owner and or GM can dictate who the coordinators are (if they want)

Ironic since I honestly think there's a decent chance that Gettleman may have made it known that he'd like Rivera to can Shula and that may have played a role in why Gettleman is no longer here.

It's hardly ever done that way.

If you're going to go to this extreme, you may as well just fire the head coach.

Personally I like Ron and what he brings to the defense.

Not like JR doesn't have a reason for making this move.

Call Ron into the office and say "Look son, we let you pick Shula and that has not worked out. Time to move on from that error and try to correct this. Me and the GM will pick the next OC. We like what you do on the defensive side of the bal and would like to retain you, but you got to leave the offense to someone who knows that side of the ball."

    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
    • At least we have Mike Kay and his little buddy sidekick whoever to put you to sleep when suffering from insomnia. They're all useless unfortunately.
