Q. Talk about running the ball up the middle on four straight plays near the goal line and coming up empty.

"We don't want sideways runs. We want to get across the goal line. I don't think that's abnormal. Good teams run and are successful. We expected to get it."

Q. How's the offense line playing?

"1-3. Like I've coached, like the offense, the defense and kicking teams have been."

This is the best answer I've ever seen him give, actually, which isn't saying a lot but hey.

If running up the middle didn't work the first 3 times, what the f*ck makes him think that it will on the 4th try?

Because it eventually works sometimes. If you get 1 foot each time and you are 4 foot from the goal-line, guess what you get on the 4th down run?

you know how different an answer it would be if you replaced "offensive line" with "Delhomme"?

Better? you put an average QB behind this OLine, and you see what we get. You put Brady behind this OLine and you still get a bad result. We've seen these examples everywhere this season, even on different teams, and even past year examples. Brady fuged up a lot when pressured.

OLine... is a correct statement. Delhomme, is not. Granted he f**ked the Moose interception and almost had another to Smith in the endzone. I'm not taking that away or saying Delhomme is a great QB.

But you won't find any better results with a better QB behind this line. There is no pocket, no protection, and no push for a run game. You would need Superman behind the line in that case.

When he gets protection, he's done a decent job.

    • Smitty is a legendary footballer player but this has really damaged his reputation as a person. You don’t cheat on a woman who has been with you through everything and gave you children and especially not with another man’s wife. He doesn’t even have any remorse about it, acting like nothing happened.
    • That's a big ass center! Is there any center in the NFL that weighs 320 lbs? Also, we drafted a center last season. Not sure this guy is a center even if he took reps at the senior bowl. Looks like a guard to me unless his build is better suited to a lesser weight. In a zone scheme centers need to be able to move quickly.
    • The majority of NFL draft picks don't play all too many snaps lined up directly across from another NFL player, and I don't think many people really realize this. Unless you play a game against one of the 2-4 schools that are putting half their lineup into the NFL each season, most teams who have multiple draft picks, MIGHT only have 2-4 draft picks in any given season. Some skill positions get around 30 players drafted each year, other positions are in the teens to low 20's.  With at least a handful of them coming from non power conference schools too.  So the odds for any WR or CB to get too many games lined up directly against another future draft pick is pretty low. The better odds are that they get lined up against a future NFL player, i.e. a junior or senior WR getting lined up against a freshman or sophomore DB who will get drafted in a couple of years. Then if you take it one step further and look for players who actually play in the NFL and make a difference.   You're basically looking at players drafted in the first 3 rounds of the draft, so a little less than 100 players a year, spread out across all the positions and conferences (which in today's massive conferences, teams have even lower odds of player the teams with more NFL players than ever before).
