South Carolina should pay.

I'm a Carolinian. Born in NC, and have split time in my life between both states...because of Bragg and Jackson.  I live in Charleston now, but have lived in Charlotte, Asheville, and Fayetteville. I guess the reason I mention this is because I'm unbiased between the states.  I love both.  I love the Panthers so much largely in part because it symbolizes unity in the region I identify with.

As a casual observer, there are a lot of Panther fans in SC.  Especially in Rock Hill, Columbia, Greenville, and Spartanburg.  Even in Charleston there are a ton.  I've noticed three different tricked out vehicles recently that served as mobile shrines for the Carolina Panthers.  Also a double decker Panther bus resides down here...as well as all the usual Panther bud light neon signs.  A wave of Panther front mounted license plates.  Panther hats and shirts everywhere.  Every time I walk into a gas station with my Panthers hat on...someone yells keep pounding.  I'm glad South Carolinians are taking pride and ownership in the Panthers because we are tied to them just like NC. Restaurants and sports pubs are busier.  Business owners make more money.  DJs are booked, vendors are busy, bartenders are making bank.  I'm sure the hotels in York county love the situation they're in.  Not to mention the boost in revenue Spartanburg sees during training camp.  Charlotte is a border city, and I wished they would go ahead and rename Rock Hill....Charlotte, SC...but they won't.

This is all a setup to say that It's time for South Carolina to invest into the Panthers.  While SC shouldn't pay as much as Charlotte because of the physical location of the team...it is only fair that they contribute a percentage of the economic revenue the Panthers create in SC.  When it comes to the sell of the team....if it comes down to a new stadium being the difference between whether the Panthers stay or go....S. Carolina needs to jump in and be the difference.  In this way SC could probably also keep TC in Spartanburg as well.  Also if they were to build a new stadium...they can build that puppy literally on the freakin boarder right by Carowinds.

Interesting thought actually...only issue would be how would SC recoup their investment.  They couldn't get a piece of the local/state revenue since the Carolina Panthers are essentially a NC business (unless there is some tax/investment situation I'm not aware of). But nonetheless interesting thought.

    • Agreed if Bryce struggles again you let DC draft his QB. There should be several options in this class.
    • I think it's a myth you absolutely need vets at those positions just for your young talent to display even marginal levels of competency. It's a cop out for your coaching staff who should be up to the task.
    • Morgan at this point is just an extension of Tepper. I get the sense the only way they move on from Bryce is if he looks horrific across the bulk of the season and forces their hand. They are dug in on justifying the pick and the trade. They've done everything possible to telegraph that to anyone observing. If they do move on though we should expect a seeking instant results splash type move. That fits the MO so far. That could very well be an FA or a trade. And if we're being honest if all that happened maybe it would be for the best because it would truly drive him how inept this franchise is at developing a young QB across multiple coaching staffs. And the fact is they hired Canales to be a QB whisperer and so far we haven't seen it.
