Assuming Kuechly stays healthy he will be hands down the best MLB in the history of the NFL when all is said and done.

I'm one of Kuechly's biggest fans but unless his wins a super bowl or multiple he will not be the best. Super Bowls count more than stats. Also Wills made him look like crap this year. You don't blitz Luke that's not his specialty. He is better at watching qb and going to make the tackle. Hopefully the defense will be different and better than last year.

I'm sorry, but I don't think I could put Urlacher in the top 5 MLBs of all-time. He wasn't even the best one that played for the Bears.

You've got guys like Dick Butkus, Lawrence Taylor, Ray Lewis, Derrick Thomas, Ray Nitschkie (sp?), Kevin Greene, Junior Seau and Jack Ham out there that are way better, just as a quick look. Dig into the game a bit more and there's an even bigger list before you should drop Urlacher into the mix.

I always thought he got a lot of credit for jumping into piles or being the second guy in on a tackle. He also was nowhere near the defensive field-marshal like Singletary or own Luuuuuke. Heck, if Dan Morgan hadn't destroyed his brain through concussions he'd have ranked higher than Urlacher.

(Apologies if a couple of those guys didn't spend their entire careers at MLB.)

Dont be that guy that confuses MLBs with pass rushers

I do think most people would agree that Ray Lewis was better.

That slam on Urlacher though...does he have a point?

He has a very valid point, if possible go back and watch some tape of those bears defenses with him on it. Can't believe he said it though.

Urlacher was good but if he played for the Bengals he wouldn't have been so popular. I always felt he was less than his reputation. Not the impact player Ray Lewis was.

The mystique of being the Bears middle linebacker, successor to Butkus and Singletary and all that?

Yes and being promoted and compared by the media because the NFC North was very marketable in his playing days. We all remember the hype for Bears/Packers for the NFC Championship. Playing against Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers brings noteriety. He was a good player. But if he was a career Bengal you're probably looking at fewer pro bowls, fewer all pros, and less coverage/recognition.

Ray Lewis on the other hand turned the Browns into the Ravens. He had help, but he was more than a linebacker. He was a culture.
