Simple Solution: hire Lake Dawson as Assistant GM

I don't care whether he trades up, trades down, trades left or trades right as long as he chooses a good player. More often that not, he doesn't.

And as one of our sources confirmed with our former assistant GM, had Marty gotten his way, Cam Newton would have been playing somewhere else.

What about the sources saying Gettleman thinks the world of Mike Shula? That's some pretty damn terrible judgement, don't you think?

Ok from what I've read there, which seems to me to be basic water cooler talk, is that Hurney had some ideas that weren't good and people had to talk him out of it.  Let's say I choose to believe that he did want to trade up to get Clausen, which obviously would have been one of the worst draft moves I could imagine.  He didn't.  Whether someone had to talk him out of it or not is irrelevant to me.  In fact I am somewhat glad to hear that he isn't one of those guys that doesn't take input and just does what he wants.

In any case, as I've stated before the only real problem I had with Hurney was the mismanagement of the cap and crazy contracts.  If he does the same thing then this will be a terrible hire.  If he does learn from his past mistakes, as people do believe it or not, then he might actually turn into a good GM.

When staff has to repeatedly talk the boss out of doing something dumb, you don't hold on to that boss. Not if you're smart, anyway.

And it's not just about "fixing mistakes".  Hurney has zero experience as a scout, none.  Neither does he show a particular aptitude for it (as the actual scouts can attest) and he didn't gain twenty plus years of experience in that field during the four years he was off.  Heck, take a look at his last four drafts.  We were lucky to get two good players out of an average of ten or more picks per year.

No other team in the league thinks he's even qualified to act as a consultant, but we have him as our GM.

It's not good.

But he IS our GM now. At least until after the draft. There is nothing that's going to change that. No amount of opinion, condemnation, hate, worry, or anger will change that fact. I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves me wrong. Why? because I have to I want this team to get to a Superbowl this year.

We will have a new owner soon and after that we get to find out what the f they plan on doing with this team. I want a good FA, Draft and cross my fingers the new owner wants to win and will make decisions JR never would. You should be excited because anything can happen and the guy you hate sooo much will be gone soon.

I gave Marty Hurney the benefit of the doubt for the better part of eleven years.  So did a lot of others.

I'm tapped out.

Guy who used to work there has said that there are so many people in the building working jobs that they're not qualified for that if someone who knows what they're doing actually takes control, a lot of people are going to be unemployed.

Richardson was well known to promote as a reward for loyalty. Whether you actually had any ability or aptitude to do what he was promoting you to was irrelevant.

And that's why I'd like to see the whole thing blown up - in terms of management. We've got plenty of nice on-field components to move forward, but we need people who are qualified to move the chess pieces around - people that know how to build things with both the short and long-term views in mind and can see the complete picture financially and in terms of talent evaluation.

With Richardson hitting the road, at least there's hope, but as with all things, sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for. Things could *gulp* get worse.

You can be mad but again he's our GM. Just like Gman or anyone else. All you can do is hope they don't f*$k up

My hopes are one thing. My expectations are another.

If I go to an Adam Sandler movie, I can hope that it's not going to be stupid. History tells me to expect that it will.

Oh sure. I mean that'd only take about five years to figure out, right?

We can still make a 1st yr assesment , I mean they are supposed to produce as rookies they just don't get a free pass.

Didn't the huddle have debate about CMC vs Kamera

Doesn't NFL give out OROY DROY?

P.S. DG want last that long lol

No, one year is not enough to judge a draft pick. That's silly.

And no, Michael Jordan isn't buying the Panthers either.

It’s not a final assessment but the bet is for rookie year production.

If your so convicted in your notion about the GMs take on the challenge otherwise it’s all fluff.

Yes he is per my inside source bro.

Didn't you just change your screen name to avoid paying off the last bet you made?

I have zero interest in making a bet that takes five years to judge. Heck I have zero interest in making a bet that takes one year to judge.

Now if you want to make a bet on whether or not Michael Jordan buys the Panthers, that one wouldn't take so long.
