Has WR ever been a priority for Hurney before?  He had Smitty and Moose for most of his initial stint, and a coach who would rather win with defense than by shooting match.  And I think that given the luxury of Steve Smith, it just wasn't a pressing need.

Funchess is no one's #1 receiver by choice.  We need to address that, I think.  I could see an Olsen-style trade, or maybe he makes a splash in FA.  But I doubt that, I think it's more likely he trades for someone who can be a legit #1.  So my five would look like this:

  1. Trade/Free Agent
  2. Funchess
  3. Samuel
  4. Draft Pick
  5. Byrd and the huddle favorite when he gets hurt, then eventually Bersin

With that said, our top receiver will probably be CMC or Olsen.

Yes, receiver has always been a focus under Hurney.

Remember he was heading up trades and drafts under Seifert prior to being given the GM title.

He brought in Patrick Jeffers, drafted and then pushed for Steve Smith to be a starting WR and not just a returner, signed Keyshawn Johnson, brought back Muhsin Muhammad, and traded for Greg Olsen.

Other moves at receiver were Isaac Byrd, Rod Gardner, Ricky Proehl, Kevin Dyson, Keary Colbert, Brandon Lafell, Drew Carter, David Gettis, Legedu Naanee and the two he always gets grief for in Dwayne Jarrett and Armanti Edwards.

Then you have the other TEs he brought to the Panthers outside of Olsen... Jeremy Shockey, Gary Barnidge, Michael Gaines, Dante Rosario, Jeff King, and Jermaine Wiggins.

The way Gettleman left this team at the WR position Dwayne Jarrett and Armanti Edwards could start without any drop off.

Don't think I can really buy into that line of thinking.  Although everything you said is true, I could rattle off names at every position that most people here will remember, and remember in the same vein as that list of receivers you mentioned.  Most of those WRs were brought here to be the third option, because we were already set at #1 and usually at #2.

Not at all against the idea.  He has developed and he has good hands.

Just when I started believing in Bersin he trips over an invisible foot and falls down.. thats all I can see.. Dude just has bad luck..which is what we don't need...i like him but.....

1. NEW WR

2. Funchess

3. CMC, Samuels or Bryd,

4. Bryd, Samuels

5. NEW Wr.

I think that the hit may have had something to do with the drop.

Nope the ball hit his hands and fell threw ..he was trying to attemp to catch the ball again and foot / ankle got rolled on by the 2nd defender. If he had got the ball initially he more than likely would have still been playing
