Richardson's"take back our f--king league" speech probably didn't go over all that well in the NFLPA offices.

But the NFL took some major hits for the fiasco surrounding Ray Rice, and then took more over Josh Brown.  And they know in today's climate there are people chomping at the bit to go after them if they blow it again.

That's a big reason why they outsourced this investigation to an independent firm.

True. But there's omg-scandalous silence and NFL silence. Even omg-scandalous has a half-life and NFL silence's is even shorter. Which is what the NFLPA is talking about. Without full transparency, without stopping pr media leaks, and without meaningful public penalties JR will be back with the NFL in less than 6 months. The NFLPA is calling BS that the investigation will be "independent".
