I don't know if it was intentionally dirty or not. I can't imagine he would be stupid enough to do something like that intentionally. . I imagine he just didn't realize that Smith called for the fair catch, or didn't have th ball. Which of course means it was a stupid play, if it wasn't dirty.

It doesn't matter if he called fair catch or not, you can't hit the returner until the ball is in his hands. Have you ever watched football before? If that was true we would hit everyone who tried to return a kick before the ball got there.
