It will take awhile for me.  Being a Spartanburg native I have known of JR long before most Panthers fans knew he existed.  Gonna be weird.

Anytime we see or hear Jerry Richardson now is likely gonna be weird too.

I do expect for the most part he'll stay out of the spotlight.

Sounded like he won't enter the building until after the sale is finalized.  Was thinking he would atleast set his office up in the stadium and get his feet wet. He probably can't do much as far as personnel and changes.

Definitely got the impression he has no actual decision making power until it's final. That said, I imagine he can come around and familiarize himself.

I kinda wonder if is it going to make changes in his other businesses and such. He might want to set things up so he can focus more on the Panthers.

(admittedly, I'm kinda hoping he does that)

I suspect that he will have to do some reorganizing with his current business management team temporarily in order to facilitate the team transition.

It's hard to imagine he bought the team without knowing the full details of the FO organizational structure and the extent of the current "JR culture" inside the building.  He will have to familiarize himself with local and state officials at some point as well as the teams current community commitments.

I presume a man of his intelligence and drive already has a plan in mind for the football side of the team and options in mind for the business side as well.

I predict that he will hit the ground running as soon as he is handed the keys and title to the franchise in July.  It wouldn't surprise me if there isn't a few hires announced prior to July.

Voth, Henson and Craft break down Tepper's beginning.

Recapping a historic day for the Panthers

All seem to be appreciative of the fact that Tepper plans to speak out publicly more often than Richardson.

Voth says Tepper reminds him of Dave Gettleman in his initial approach, checking things out before making changes.

There's a clip of Jerry Jones which, though not long, makes me wonder if age is not starting to take a toll on him.

They replay Tepper's "two Carolinas" clip, which again makes me think they plan to keep a presence in South Carolina as well. Henson considers that the best moment of the presser.

I have gone quite a few mergers, reorg's, and other types of change of ownership/senior management.  While the NFL may be higher profile, the circumstances and actions will likely be similar.  One thing I have learned is that culture is talked about a lot, but is in reality, rarely much of an issue.  If Tepper is a good manager, those that are good at their job, and can adjust to his management style, will stay.  Those that aren't, or can't, will not.

Hey guys, congratulations.  I'm a Giants fan but when I heard the news that David Tepper is buying the team the Panthers became my second favorite team in the league.  The reason is that I went to the Carnegie Mellon business school that Tepper donated a ton of money to and had named after him.  I obviously don't know the guy but he came to speak both years I was at school and I had a blast.  He seems super personable and engaging.  He made a lot of jokes and asked students to call him David instead of Mr. Tepper.  Anyway, seemed like a cool guy.  But he also comes off as very down to business, so I'm sure he won't embarrass your franchise like *ahem* some owners.  Anyway, looking forward to rooting for the Panthers when they're not playing the Giants!

He was voted Class Clown at his high school for a reason.  He's a funny guy.

But again, you can also get a feel for what it's like to work for him.  The way he turned the location question back on Rapoport, for example.

Actually you jogged my memory for something.  In the school that I mentioned that's named after Tepper we had a school newspaper type thing that was humorous in nature with students making fun of each other most of the time.  It's been around since forever, including the early 80s when David Tepper was there.  My good friend was an editor for the newspaper and he told me that the type of pranks Tepper pulled and wrote about in the newspaper would be something no one would get away with nowadays.  I can't remember what it was but it was pretty bad (or good depending on how you look at it).  But nothing as far as I know that really crossed the line too much.

I could see that.

Our previous owner insisted on being called "Mister". Nice to know Tepper is more personable.

Even so, I'll stick to saying I'm glad I don't work for him. Maybe when I was younger I could have, but at my age I'm not sure I want the kind of pressure that would involve :)

The one issue there though: As has been mentioned before, there are people in that building doing jobs they're not qualified to do because Jerry Richardson promoted them for the wrong reason.

Doesn't sound like kissing up to the boss is gonna keep people employed anymore.
