My feelings / thoughts and don’t give a rat’s ass who approves or not

1. I had family members who served and were buried under that flag and they were not overpaid over indulged athletes   I want respect for those service people and I don’t really want to hear the other bullshit

2. When one is an employee one operates under that company’s business conduct guidelines. Don’t like the policies, leave or sue

it is really that simple

In  the state of NC and other right to work stares, an employee can be fired at will with no cause

No one approves of police brutality and there are ample other guardians of the same in the news media and the courts not to mention, you know voting and running for office   Mr Kapernick admitted he didn’t vote  intelligence runs rampant

I really don’t need the likes of Collin Kapernick, or any NFL player, raising my awareness. I’m not that stupid.

On this Menorial Day, maybe he and some of those players should go watch Saving Private Ryan and perhaps he would understand why people like me won’t continue to pay to see this crap

Solid point. However that is also an opinion. People have every right to be upset about players kneeling. As do the players who choose to protest.

I actually agree.  We all have the right to accept the consequences of our actions, words and opinions when making a public statements or a stand.  I just think it should have been left alone.

From the owners perspective, the best decision they could have made, was to leave this alone.  Let the players protest if they want.  Now you are pretty much setting teams against one another.  Especially if you consider someone choosing to kneel, and their team get a fine.  Also, what if a player or players choose to stay in, and others choose to go out and stand?  Again, splitting locker rooms.  It will be an interesting season.

Get ready for a possible strike .

What a stupendously arrogant generalization to make about people you don’t know.

If you haven’t the good sense to see that nobody is making that point I guess there is no sense in trying to explain further though.

Im talking about people acting like these demands are comparable to a slave owner’s mentality or violating constitutional rights. Your employer cant force you to do anything, but they have every right to punish you or fire you if you are going to continue working for them and not follow their set of rules. I dont know why so many people have trouble grasping that concept. I used to be a loan officer taking inbound applications. If i answered every call with “Donald Trump is a White Supremecist” or “Black Lives Matter is a terrorist organization” I would be fired on the spot. Are they violating my 1st Amendment right by doing that?

That would be something.  If there was a strike, what percentage of the league do you think would sit out?

Hard to tell--but putting the pieces together, I think its coming.

our National Anthem will be played and respected at every game

will likely be some players that stay in locker room, but not as many as you think...most of the kneeler's were looking for attention, this new policy gives them none

the owners and 99% of the fans want no part of what was a dis-respective sideshow

best decision to come out of an owners meeting in a long time...maybe ever

I hope you and those disrespected by the players are prepared to be around fans sitting during the anthem and fans protesting at the stadium. I can guarantee that 99% number you gave is greatly exaggerated. What are you going to do to fans sitting next to you during the anthem or fans protesting outside the stadium. Can’t use the job excuse on them. You going to ask the owners to force fans to stand? Or is this simply about you feeling like you have control over millionaire athletes, so your satisfied? Once Trump speaks this will blow up.

Itll be interesting to see how this plays out.

Nfl should’ve remained quiet and let this die. It was slowly dying.

Forcing others to conform to your own particular brand of patriotism doesn't sound like freedom to me.

This isn't even addressing the fact that numerous NFL teams are paid millions by the defense department to "honor" the military.

When you look at the whole picture, you would think those who claim to be the biggest patriots would be firmly against this. Instead they're high fiving. Baffling.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
