Late offseason free agent news

With training camps opening sometime next month, you'll likely see a few final free agent signings between now and then.

Here's one you may not like.

Ron Parker, the former Chiefs safety who had previously spent a little time as a Panther (and who some were hoping would spend more time as a Panther) is signing with the Falcons.

I’m more interested in seeing which players get cut. Should still be able to find some useful depth.

Also on the safety front, Tre Boston turned down a chance to play for Steve Wilks because he said the offer was "very very disrespectful" (PFT)

I'm not sure what would have constituted a "respectful" offer in his mind, but with training camps just around the corner, if you get an offer you should probably take it.

I think Tre just thinks he's worth a lot more than NFL GMs think he's worth. When you're still unsigned in late June, any offer is probably a good one. Teams aren't exactly blowing your phone up in a bidding war.

Plus he'd have been playing for a familiar coach in a familiar system.

Yeah, I'd say he's being a bit of an arse on this one.

I think perhaps the success in SD went to his head a bit, at best while here he was an inconsistent player, his highs were high, and his lows, were low. he has three seasons of average to mediocre film out there. No team familiar or not is going to break the bank on a safety that couldn't hold down a spot in our defensive backfield after three seasons given all the turn over we've had. 

Offers this time of year aren't going to blow a FA's socks off, I have no idea what ''disrespectful'' may allude to, but it's June 25th, one team left you in a cafeteria per his tweet for two hours, and the other rolled out the ''red carpet'' yet you scoff at it. This draft was safety deep, and the free agent market was affected by that from the safety perspective. I can't imagine the offers he gets after an injury, or young players not looking the part will be much better.

Not exactly "free agent" news but 14 teams attended Brandon Bryant's pro day today leading up to the Supplemental Draft.

The Panthers weren't one of them.

Personally speaking, I think Rivera is one of the most likable guys you could ever meet.

I'm giving him a clean slate with the firing of Shula and the hiring of Turner, but he and Hurney haven't exactly been a winning combination in the past, so I've got my doubts.

Right on and fair. 

I haven’t been as critical of Rivera as most but that doesn’t mean I’m blind either. 

Fan of his or not, I’m a realist. This business is “win or learn”. Even the most ardent supporters question competency with a lack of results or consistency. 

If this season is a disappointment I have a pitchfork within arms length.
