Falcons to begin charging admission to watch training camp

Falcons join teams charging fans to watch training camp practice

Five dollars a ticket...

The article (by Gantt) mentions that the Panthers began charging for Fan Fest last year.  They haven't started charging for training camp...yet.

Given Tepper's focus on revenue and the increasing wariness of teams regarding video and such, gotta wonder if that's coming.

Sorry, but the Panthers will have to pay me to get me to suffer that Spartanburg heat and humidity ever again.

I went several times back in the day, but I don't see myself going again any time soon.

Panthers aren't charging for camp practices...yet.

And to be fair, as I recall they really only started charging for Fan Fest because there were so many people that the crowd was overwhelming.

I know they haven't yet... I'm just saying I have no interest in going back unless they pay me... It is that heat and humidity, and tbqh between the grown men begging for autographs and the overwhelming number of uninformed redneck onlookers. It was just a big turn off once I reached my mid 20's. I don't think I've been to camp in 10 years or more.

Fan Fest has always been "meh" for me too. It basically looks like camp with actual seating instead of an unshaded slope and chain link fences.

Close. @RoaringRiot had the full scoop. I believe the first step was creating tickets to avoid too many peopl and fighting over seats. That then turned into people grabbing as many as they wanted and selling them on eBay. The second year of tickets was charging a small fee to keep it organized and stop people who didn’t want to go but wanted to sell the tickets. It honestly had nothing to do with the revenue since the tickets were free until idiots decided to cash in on a fun free event.

Makes sense.

Sad truth of modern life: You always have to work around the a--holes.

”grown men begging for autographs”

no desire to go free or not

I don't know how much things changed, but dudes were lining up by the walkway around dawn, I assume, the few times I made the trip down to TC.

I didn't see it in person, because I avoided that whole crowded mess as much as possible, but it has been said here that they'd actually push kids out of the way to try and get them.

I think one of the last straws for me was hearing this hick lady guffawing in her most southern accent possible "Thar's Stephen Lafloors! Go Laflors! Yeah Lafloors!" Obviously, she was talking about Stefan Lefors, so you can tell how dated this is. I was all like, "omg stfu lady! our close proximity might make people think I'm here with you" in my head as I moved away slowly.

But yeah, that kinda stuff and the swampy atmosphere was pretty much the end of it for me. There were some good times, too, for sure. But, in the end, my old, fat ass just didn't feel like making the 4 hour journey to endure that environment. I think the last time I went to TC was around 2007.

Like you said, I can get all the info I need about it here for the most part.

You couldn't pay me to sit in that heat.  Went to many practices but stopped going 2 years ago because it was miserable.  I stayed inside on summer days in the south.  Lucky I no longer have to deal with that crap anymore but do miss being able to see home games when I wanted.
