Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly likes the addition of defensive tackle Dontari Poe (6-3, 346), acquired as a free agent out of Atlanta during the offseason to replace Star Lotulelei and play beside Pro Bowler Kawann Short. "Him and KK are active disruptors. And that's what you want with those two guys in a 4-3 [scheme]. Guys that can get up field, give problems to offensive linemen. Dontari, he's big, he takes up a lot of space, but he's very nimble. His agility is really good for a big guy.''

Panthers coach Ron Rivera says no decision has been made on whether to try and bring back right tackle Daryl Williams this season. Williams, on thé last year of his contract, suffered a torn MCL and dislocated patella in his right knee on Saturday.

Based on the amount I’ve seen Gaulden on the field it seems the Panthers are doing a little “baptism by fire” methodology with the rookie – throwing a ton at him all at once and seeing what he does with it.
