How low is the bar for Mahon?

Is Sirles ahead of him?

yes. he started 14 games at LG in the last 2 years. Mahon may beat him out eventually, but I assume that Sirles or Larsen is our starter, and I'd give Sirles the nod because Larsen is center 2. The official depth chart has Sirles ahead of Mahon.

disclaimer, I have not been to camp or seen them play. My opinion may change after tonight.

I'm looking for flashes.  I want to see a couple of runs where he mauls someone, sustainability is not anything I expect from an UDFA rookie, so if I see him hold his own against some good players then I'll be happy.  This is probably the biggest game of this kids life (it is preseason, but not many UDFA's get a chance to audition for a starting job, do well get paid, do poorly and you could be out of the league in 3 weeks), so it'll also be interesting to see if he feeds off the pressure or or uses it to play at a higher level.

    • I agree the free agent class is thin but with all the draft capital Tulsky has I expect some big trades as well
    • I mean we haven't had a winning season in going on 8 years we have had the worst win percentage in all of sports the last few years and we spent most of last summer arguing with each other on whether to be hyped or cautiously optimistic. To the point he was trying to moderate the discourse all throughout training camp. The staff then decided to hold the starters out of preseason until the very end and we started off the season with two of the ugliest losses in franchise history. Yet apparently in his mind the problem is....the fans who are justifiably apprehensive to buy the hype again before seeing some consistency in actual games? I don't see anything remotely unreasonable about it and it certainly doesn't make anyone any less of a fan or inferior to someone else unless that someone is mentally ill.
