Ron not going to give any injury updates this week

Ron had seemed more relaxed / open than normal so far this preseason regarding injury updates.

That's stopped...

Fair enough.

And perhaps necessary if health issues are such that we may be trying to work a trade.

Thoughts?

Any trade won't be official until after a physical, so it's more likely Ron being guarded for no reason whatsoever. I'm sick of his poo.

Reading into Ron's sudden reticence to discuss OL injuries, I'd assume the news on Kalil and possibly Sirles too is troubling, or at least very uncertain.

Amini and Daryl are both out working on the side.

Sounds like we need to sign an OT.

Right now our starting line is

Moton

VanRoten

R Kalil

Turner

Clausell.

Clausell was ok vs Patriots, but there's REALLY no depth behind him. We're already down to 3rd/4th string at tackle.

I think we are close enough to game one that gamesmanship must start.  No sense in potentially sharing a bit of information that may give aid to the enemy.   Would you prefer a John Fox, “he’s got a knee”, “he’s day to day” response?

If Byrd is getting a "vet day", I would think that bodes well for him making the team. I've seen some speculation/concern in other threads that he might be released.

I was among those speculating just based on roster math. But Ron's post-game comments made it sound like Byrd is safe. So I've quieted down.

I think your onto something with Kalil here. I would not be surprised to see him go on I.R or even retire lol.

Didnt he say Kalil was “inside” last week when he was really in Florida getting his knee scoped

Why would you think Sirles is troubling? We’ve heard it’s a hamstring and I think even Sirles said after the game he was fine. I definitely assumed he wouldn’t be practicing today and definitely not playing this weekend. I haven’t heard anything that leads me to believe that he is in trouble for week 1.

I may have missed something post-game from Sirles.  I hadn't heard anything at all after he was ruled out of the game with a hamstring... So what seemed like total silence was concerning. (Hamstring injuries can vary in severity...)

I hope Sirles could be 100% by week 1.

If so, I could probably live with our line situation as is as our depth guys have proven pretty solid. Moton and Van Roten is a great looking combo. We'd just need a stopgap (Sirles, hopefully) at RT until Williams is back.

I don't blame RR, I wouldn't give out any more info than I had to.

Agree, and hope what I wrote didn't come across as blame. It's just a sudden shift, but yeah, not that unexpected this time of year.

    • Cant take him seriously because he likes Bryce sounds about right for around here
    • OK, let me first say that I can't get any Twitter link to embed--using "X" or "Twitter" or whatever, and I'm tired of trying. Now, I must say that I see Panthers stuff in Facebook on occasion as I'm part of some group, but I see Panthers stuff even less on the cesspool that is now X, but as a follower of the official Panthers Twitter, stuff pops up on that feed too. I guess that I shouldn't be surprised that agents of the organization would be putting out tweets like this: He's not even trying to be objective. It stands to make sense though. In order to get better information, you have to go to national sources like Kurt Warner.  I'm not necessarily trying to pick on J-Stew, per se, but I can't take him seriously, as even some past Panthers players, like Greg Olsen for example, don't seem like they're just trying to cater to Panthers Nation, just saying hollow words to make everyone feel good.  I just wonder why here on the Carolina Huddle, there seems to be more objectivity, or at least more critical thinking and serious discussion than most other social media sources on the Panthers. It's interesting. There is a significant difference.  For all the changes and the seeming decline in popularity to whatever degree, the Carolina Huddle still has its place and plays a big part in overall Panthers fandom. We want to be happy, joyous and cheer for the Panthers, but we aren't necessarily trying to shoot sunshine up people's derrières either.
