Need information on river flooding

I am trying to find the same info with very little success. Planning on heading to the NC coast to help my dad with cleanup and repairs. He lives in Straits, overlooking Harkers Island and Cape Lookout. I've got to drive from SC and am worried if I leave too late HWY 70 will be closed in Kinston. Below are some links I have found:

First time post so cut me some slack.

There are several methods to find out that info first use NCready app, you can find it on play store etc it has road closures etc.

Also the most up to date information would more than likely be the county EOC ( emergency operations centers) of the area your traveling though. Web search should find it.

70 though Kinston could very possibly be closed. If you have to go through Craven County be advised many roads in the the northern part have portions that are flooded and closed.

Lastly remember turn around don't drown. If there is water on a road it is extremely dangerous to try to go though it.

I hope this helps.

That is some very very low land up there bro.  Don't get yourself into a jam cause I can't imagine any roads not flooded up there on that peninsula.

Thanks for the heads-up. My brother made it today with no issues. Said that the biggest worry is the Neuse River Bridge in Kinston. Flood waters are expected to continue to rise and the bridge may end up being closed. The rest of the trip from there has no potential issues. Was actually kind of hoping to use my truck for what it was designed though (within reason).
