Baldy Breakdown of Cam & CMC vs Bengals

When Baldy gets fired up about the Panthers, it's SO much fun to listen to.

I had not previously noticed how CMC just ripped out of a two armed tackle....   speechless.  This kid has totally changed the script about him.  Loving it!

The Caff & Cam show.  Can't wait to watch more episodes.

This is a very encouraging stat to see. Read-option looks (whether or not the play is actually an option) have been way more successful than traditional runs during Newton's tenure. It's absolutely ridiculous that  we were only using them half the time before.

Here also are some interesting stats on CMC success by direction.  I would have loved to know how many rushes in each direction...

This is interesting, but I'm not sure what to make of it. While we've had a lot of runs where the initial action has been wide to the left, I can only think of one example of McCaffrey actually running outside the left end, which was when he received the pitch off the triple-option against the Cowboys. So that number is either based on an incredibly small sample size or includes runs that started that way and were cut back (or my memory is just terrible), and the interpretation is very different in those two cases. Of course, it's dangerous to read to much into these numbers right now in any case, seeing as how 60% of his carries have come in one game.

This speaks volumes. This is more about Norv scheming ways to avoid running into large boxes and getting a numbers advantage offensively.

And CMC is feasting.

Yes, it's very frustrating not to be able to access the data for the number of carries in each direction.  I don't subscribe to any premium PFF data, so I'm not sure how to find that data easily.  Maybe Sharp Football has it....?  So, yes, I think it's best to treat this as interesting but perhaps not significant on a small sample size.

this specifically is why i was facepalming when a few people advocated we sign peterson this offseason. norv wasn't allowed to run out of the shotgun in MN because peterson didn't like it and got mad.
