The Panthers are 5th in special teams DVOA so far this season, their best ever under Rivera

This team has had a pretty remarkable turnaround on special teams since 2017 and I think we have to give Chase Blackburn a ton of credit. We had been in the 20s and 30s literally every year since at least 2011 until last year when Blackburn became a special teams assistant. Remember how every returner would run all over us and we would look inept year after year? Good job Blackburn!

Panthers special teams has been elite since last year. Really impressed.

I flack on PFF grades a lot in general, but in terms of their punting grades I put more credit with that. It's a whole different system of analyzing hang-time, where the ball lands, and other variables. Since it's punting and not amateurs trying to analyze scheme formations and player roles, I put more credit with this. Palardy's considered the best punter in the NFL according to their metrics.

It's not how far a punter kicks it that really matters. It's a whole different ball-game, and Palardy's been great at that.

Also, our coverage unit and gunners have been fantastic.

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
