While We're on the Topic of Unnecessary Roughness on QB Penalties

Also, Cam took almost the exact same hit last week, looked at the ref and questioned why a call wasn't made and was shrugged off...  sadly, i see more "fans" here defending the officials and criticizing Reid than I see outrage over opposing players taking similar shots on Cam not getting penalized every week...  interesting.

I think the late-hit on Cam sliding last week and Reid's this week were both worthy of penalty and ejection.

I fully believe that Reid's blow to Roethlisberger's head was incidental and unintentional.  By rule, however, I don't think that matters.  I think they consider ANY blow to the head area, incidental or not, worthy of the flag and ejection.

Cam's slide last game and Roethlisberger's in this one SHOULD have been adjudged equally by the officials.  The one that they got wrong was on Cam, however (which is a nasty nasty habit by this league).

Edit:  I totally agree with you about the post-play ruckus and the puzzling lack of flags against the Steeler's players.

Brady is the worst of them all with special protection that is why opposing players are afraid to even touch him without being penalized. All QB's should be under same rules and not a certain handful.

Mole Face gets more protection than even Brady imo.

In this case yes, and if not, at least we're playing with the same intentions as our opponents...  all is fair in love and war.

Also, our soft ass team welcomes the hits on Cam bc they don't retaliate.  Notice who defended Cam on the Kazee hit - a first year WR, and he got penalized for it.  When we get a questionable hit on an opposing QB, like last night, the fuging biggest dudes on the field are coming for blood.  I always go back to Trai looking back at Cam against Denver and walking away like it wasn't his problem.

Man...  Smitty almost killed Talib one year in Tampa for taking a headshot on Pickles...  if that was Cam, somebody would be getting mollywhopped.  Under Rivera, our culture is soft as wet toilet paper.  Want to injure our QB?  Ok, but you better not do that again, or we're gonna send tapes to the league office afterwards, who wont do jackshit bc they want Cam knocked out too.

People need to realize, sometimes you gotta take justice into your own hands.

Count me as one of the few who would rather see our team play with integrity than stoop low to prove a point.

the unnecessary roughness penalty was negated on the Kazee hit because the refs called an offsetting penalty on Torrey Smith for running in and defending Cam.  Yet, Decastro and Pouncey ran in and essentially assualted Eric Reid, and nothing was called.  All Torrey did was grab/push Kazee away from Cam, IIRC.

This! I think Reid's hit was definitely a penalty (whether or not Cam is excluded). I disagree with the ejection, I've seen a lot worse done, and end up a no call. BUT, what you show in your pic is also a huge unnecessary roughness penalty. I called the gut a dumbass last night because he rushed in and grabbed a facemask. That's a given for offsetting the late hit to the head. The refs definitely screwed the pooch on this.

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
