He's not a hybrid player. Too slow. Limited what the offense could do when he was on the field.

People don't like this being said because it doesn't fit whatever narrative they have going on, but offensively he just wasn't a good fit.

I've got my issues with the coaching staff and I'm no fan of Rivera, but this wasn't one of the things I had a problem with.

And no, I don't have some axe to grind with CJ either. I was pretty neutral about him before getting here and was excited about the element he could bring, but when you look at everything the offense is doing and the motion and deception that's going on, it's using fast players that bounce around all over the place and CJ just didn't fit what was going on.

Everyone on the field is a decoy and I'm guessing he didn't like being one of them and/or wasn't good enough at it.

Either way, I don't think that it's all that big of a deal. The offense is built around Cam and CMC. You take one of those pieces out for very long and you have to scrap a major part of the playbook.

Could we have used a bruiser to get in the end zone those two times we blew it this week? Maybe, but I get the feeling what we did down there was more on Ron and what he feels comfortable with in those situations and I don't feel it was the best utilization of the talent we had on the field.

So who is this “hybrid” player that we have now that can come in and spell CMC? One that doesn’t “limit” the offense? CAP? Seriously?

Name any available RB that fits better as CMCs backup right now. Considering we’re still paying him? Did we get better or worse as a team? And pay more for it?

No narrative. Just questions.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
    • His daughter's initials are CAM.  Coincidence? I think not
