eric shelton.  remember how stoked we were about that dude.   (sorry, bet you'd forgotten about that dude)

hurney is doing better than last time, but i dont want gettleface back and i don't think there's any way tepper is letting hurney lead the coaching search.  i hope hurndog gets a 'lateral promotion' also.

I think Tepper will want a new GM, but Hurney didn't really screw up or anything. He did a decent a job in the draft and FA. Not like Gettleman that guy screwed up the draft and FA to the point where we're still hurting. I still can't believe Gettleman's Matt Kalil contract. We're going to be wrecked long term from that nightmare move, and tons of busted picks. But yes Hurney is probably toast. Tepper will want to flex his muscles and dump the old guard because we're going to keep losing this season.

Those are his only draft hits?

He has had tons of hits, just mostly before the lame Delhomme contract extension.

'02 - Peppers, DeShaun Foster (for a bit), Will Witherspoon

'03 - Gross, Ricky Manning

'04 - Chris Gamble, Travelle Wharton

'05 - TD (possibly his best ever)

'06 - D-Will, James Anderson

'07 - Beason, CJ, Ryan Kalil

'08 - J-Stew

Then after that, his only good ones were Cam, Kuechly, Josh Norman & Greg Hardy.

It was his "loyalty" & financial responsibility that got his ass fired.

The thing about Gettleman that I actually liked (there wasn't much) was that he didn't care about the players. I liked that because I don't care about them either. I only want the Panthers to win. So when it came time to dump D-Will I was thrilled. Finally. And when he wanted to phase out Olsen and TD again I was happy. JR wasn't, but that might have had more to do with female employees not answering his perverted love letters. So the best part of Gettleman, his Grinch heart, was negated by JR.

I agree, but to an extent. The G-man was a bit cold, but he cared more for wins than the player's feelings. And that lead us to a Super Bowl. Cha-ching!

However, releasing Josh Norman & signing Matt Kalil were all 100% dumbass moves.
