I'm seeing more angst and ire over Cam Newton celebrating than over the fact that we're still sending him out there clearly already injured and risking further injury in a lost season.

You have no issue with him risking life and limb and his future for your entertainment, but you want to dictate to him on a very specific level how he should show emotion at any given moment in a game that exists solely for entertainment? I'm sorry, but fug you.

There are other threads discussing that now, Cam and whether or not he should be allowed to rest and heal.

This thread is specifically about what the title says. Cam being hurt does not excuse what he did nor does it have anything to do with the piss poor decision that led to another one.

Focusing more time on chastising players over things like celebrating at the "wrong time" just to maintain a perceived image instead of asking why it took this many weeks for the head coach to finally change is the sort of thing I'd expect from curmudgeons like Jerry Richardson. As much as some of you claim to want so desperately to get away from that way of thinking, you sure seem hellbent on maintaining it. You deserve an owner like Jerry Richardson.

doubling down this hard

you are intentionally misrepresenting this issue

His timout turned out to be correct. The Panthers forced a TO and gave them a chance to win the game, or did you miss that? So your insult_Ron post is childish and stupid.

What are you talking about?  The scenario everyone's discussing happened at the end of the first half, not the end of the game. Ron eventually taking the time out after Cams first down at the end of the first half was correct, unfortunately he stood there like a statue while over ten seconds ran off the clock before doing so.

I’m going to sound like a dick here, but seriously, your understanding of sports in general is starting to look minimal.

You are clearly a bigger fan of Cam than the team and it’s looking more and more obvious. I don’t mind that. But most of us are fans of the franchise first and foremost.

Did you grow up playing sports? If so, you would have been taught that there are times to hold your emotions in check. You seem to think anyone who criticizes Cam is a racist. That’s frustrating for a whole lot of us who have supported Cam from day one. But in sports you don’t celebrate when you are losing late in the game. It’s not the time. Especially when you are on a losing streak. You hustle and you bust your ass to fix it.

Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James. How often do you hear people talking about how focused and level headed they are in the big moments?

Tom Brady, Russel Wilson, Peyton Manning. Do you often see them wasting 12 seconds to show emotions and celebrate in the two minute drill over first downs?

What do all those guys have? I adore Cam Newton. He is my favorite player in the NFL. He fugged up. Admitting that doesn’t make me a racist. It means I understand sports.

And guess what. If the rest of the team is hustling to the line while Cam dances then you are damn right I have a problem with him showing emotion in that moment. Cam isn’t bigger than the rest of the team. He shouldn’t have done that. Doesn’t make me a racist and it doesn’t mean I don’t love him. But you are willfully ignorant on this subject. Let it go

The rest of your post is basically void if you're going to casually preface it all with such an absurd falsehood. I addressed this laughable claim in two different threads today, this one included. If you aren't even going to take the time to read, then that's on you. Stop being a lazy ass or go back to lurking.

Read every post. Disregard that comment if you want. Doesn’t change the fact you are entirely wrong on this issue and you failed to address my point with any substance whatsoever

All you did was incorrectly namedrop the most famous athletes in the world to use as a means of doubling down on your "listen guys, I'm the biggest Cam Newton fan there is, "buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut" agenda. That's not a new shtick around here guy.

It's not lost on me that the only steaming mad arguments I keep getting from Panthers fans here are all from the dad jean wearing foot stomping white guys.

I’ve been on this forum for years. My “dad jeans” whatever the hell that means has nothing to do with any of it. You are making a trash argument and labeling everyone who disagrees with you as a racist.

There’s a reason virtually nobody on this thread is agreeing with you... (its cause you are completely wrong lol)

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
